A guest-favorite attraction at Disney World is finally making its long-awaited return in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company. In 1923, Walt Disney and his brother, Roy O. Disney, began their business as the Disney Bros. Studios. One hundred years ago, surely neither Walt nor Roy could have dreamed that their tiny studio in California would grow to a multi-billion enterprise beloved by fans all the world over. No wonder the 100th anniversary of the Disney Company is such a monumental occasion.
In celebration of Disney’s anniversary, Disney Parks has announced plans for some spectacular events this year, especially at EPCOT, Disney World’s second park, which opened in 1982.
One of those announcements came today during the Destination D23 event taking place at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. There have been numerous announcements made about exciting new additions and magical expansions coming to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom already, but the announcement about EPCOT has fans standing up to cheer.
Beginning September 22, 2023, the original Soarin’ Over California attraction will return to EPCOT.
Guests who love the Soarin’ Around the World attraction at EPCOT will remember that the attraction first opened with an aerial tour of the Golden State and was later reimagined to take guests on a journey across the globe. But many fans of Soarin’ say that the original version is still the best.
The new take on the original version of Soarin’ will only be available to guests for a limited time, as it is being brought back in celebration of Disney’s exciting 100th anniversary!
There’s no word yet on the end date for the experience, so don’t miss it. Oh–and have a nice flight!
