When Bob Iger resumed his position as Disney’s CEO, he knew he had a lot of work to do. One of the most daunting tasks? Repairing the relationship between Disney and its fans. Today he attempted to do just that with a first if it’s kind email. D23 members (free and paid tiers) received a personalized email from the direct email address of Disney’s top-level executive.
The message expressed holiday wishes and kicked off the Disney100 celebration with more information about what fans can expect. In the heartfelt letter he expressed his gratitude to be back at Disney and for the fans for their continued enthusiasm and passion for Disney saying, “Disney is fortunate to have the most devoted and enthusiastic fans, and I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when I visited Disneyland Resort and attended the Candlelight Processional. It was invigorating to be surrounded by so many guests who make what we do possible. We love your passion for our company and your enthusiasm for what we create, and we will continue to do our best to exceed your highest expectations.”
He ends the email with a statement about how there’s no better time to be a Disney fan, “Looking at all the opportunities ahead, I can honestly say there has never been a better time to be a Disney fan. It is an extraordinary privilege to lead this remarkable company again, and I am so grateful for your continued passion for Disney. On behalf of all of us at The Walt Disney Company, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and prosperous New Year.”
The overall tone was hopeful and happy. You can check out the full email below:
This is a vast improvement from Bob Chapek, who regularly skipped fan events and looked incredibly uncomfortable when he had to mingle with Guests. We hope the appreciation continues and that the real work is only just getting started because there is still so much to be done. Iger seems up to the task though and eager to do what needs to be done.
