To say that Bluey has taken over the world wouldn’t be that much of a stretch, as the Australian animated series is currently one of the most streamed programs on our screens. However, she might not be everyone’s favorite cartoon dog.
The Heeler family has kept our attention for over 154 episodes and certainly shows no signs of slowing down. As fans wait patiently for the next batch of new minisodes, many are rewatching some of their favorites on Disney+, Disney Junior, and BBC iView.

With so many to choose from, it’s hard to decide just where to start. However, one consistent favorite continues to be the subject of discussion, and Bluey has almost nothing to do with it.
The Best of Bluey isn’t Even Her’s
Hardcore Bluey buffs out there are constantly debating their favorite episodes. While entries like “Dance Mode,” “Army,” “Space,” and even the 28-minute-long “The Sign” might be tossed around, one episode consistently seems to be the most popular.

“Sleepytime” is a title even the greenest fan knows off the top of their head, and with very good reason. Considered some of the “best TV ever made,” the episode captured both attention and heartstrings as viewers witnessed a night in the Heeler household that blends Bingo’s psychedelic solar system dreams with beautiful classical music.
Inside the Magic previously gave an assessment of the episode in question and its sequential success.
The article shares,
“The episode has little in the way of dialogue, but the stars of the show are the visuals and soundtrack, presenting a dreamy trip across the solar system set to Holst’s “Jupiter.” As the viewer is pulled into Bingo’s dreams, the emotional weight of the short episode hits them like a freight train.”
Although this episode never fails to hit us right in the biscuits with its powerful and emotional sequences, it shows one thing that Ludo Studio seems to be pushing more and more. Bluey doesn’t need Bluey.
Is That True?
If we’re being entirely logical here, Bluey herself isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Next to characters like Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh, she is quickly becoming the most identifiable and successful fictional character in modern culture.
It’s still her name on the marquee, but she is far from the only player on the stage. As the show continues to evolve into the inevitable season 4, our girl is quickly becoming the Alice in her animated Wonderland.

Does this mean Bluey is officially taking a backseat? Not necessarily, but it does mean that Joe Brumm and the rest of the creative team at Ludo have much more to play with.
While she might be more of a supporting role in episodes like the beloved “Sleepytime” or “Space,” it doesn’t mean she serves no purpose. If the new minisodes are anything to go by, we’ve not seen the last of Bluey by a long shot.
