In a surprising turn of events, Steakhouse 55 at Disney announced its closure back in July of 2021. The beloved restaurant, which offered a fine dining experience, had been a staple at the Disneyland Hotel for many years. This closure was devastating for fans of the high-end steakhouse.

Steakhouse 55 was known for its charming ambiance and a delicious menu featuring American flavors. With its dark wood paneling and elegant chandeliers, the restaurant exuded an air of sophistication that made it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a romantic date night. Since closing, fans have wondered what would be done with the space. Now, two years after shutting its doors, we finally know what the space will become.

The End of an Era for Steakhouse 55

The closure of Steakhouse 55 has left a void in the dining landscape of the Disneyland Resort. While there are still plenty of other dining locations to choose from within Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney, many Disney enthusiasts mourn the loss of this iconic establishment.

Once its closure was announced, fans began to speculate what would be done with the space. Some fans even questioned if perhaps the restaurant would reopen once more. In addition to its food service, Steakhouse 55 also served afternoon tea, which was an offering that many Disney Park Guests were sad to see leave the hotel.

Now, Disney has finally announced what will take the space that was once Steakhouse 55. Unfortunately, the concept is kind of disappointing.

Fans Feeling Let Down by ‘Steakhouse 55’ Replacement

It has been revealed that the space that was once Steakhouse 55 is going to be transformed into a “flexible lounge space.” The area will sometimes be used as an extension of a seasonal bar. According to Theme Park reporter Scott Gustin, work on the transformation has begun today, July 31, 2023.

Many fans are feeling less than thrilled at this concept. A lounge space is not nearly as exciting as a new restaurant or bar. This also means that a luxury hotel will remain without a full-service restaurant. As of now, it seems that the future does not hold much excitement for the area that once held Steakhouse 55.
