VIDEO: ‘Beetlejuice 2’ Teaser Trailer Released!

“The juice is loose” and ready to cause some chaos.

It’s been nearly forty years since Michael Keaton played the ghost with the most in the 1988 film, Beetlejuice. The film starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as Adam and Barbara — a recently deceased couple who enlist Beetlejuice’s help to scare the family that just moved into their home. Beetlejuice also starred Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz, and Jeffrey Jones as Charles Deetz.

A sequel to the wildly successful film has been in the works for decades, with Winona Ryder hinting at a sequel all the way back in 2013. Several sequel films were planned, but they were always shelved. Then, in 2022, Warner Bros. announced that a sequel would FINALLY be happening, and fans went wild.

It’s been just over two years since that announcement, and Warner Bros. just dropped a TEASER TRAILER for the new film! Check it out!

As seen in the trailer, and reported by Disney Dining earlier, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will see Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder return to the dark and hilarious roles fans love. We also reported that Jeffrey Jones was not returning as Charles Deetz and speculated that his character might have been killed off.

The trailer seems to confirm that Charles is no longer with us. But, in true Tim Burton fashion, his funeral could not be a totally sad occasion. A children’s choir is seen singing the Harry Belafonte hit, “Day-O”, which was the song used in the original film’s most iconic scene.

We also get to see Jenna Ortega as Astrid, Lydia’s daughter, and the one who brings Beetlejuice back from the great beyond. In a nod to the original film, Astrid is seen uncovering the scale model that Adam made of Winter River, the town they live in. Lydia knows what lies beneath that scale model, but can’t stop Beetlejuice from coming back.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will see the addition of Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe, but we do not yet know what roles they will play. Monica Bellucci has also joined the cast as Beetlejuice’s wife. That’s right — the agent of pandemonium found a woman who wanted to marry him.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will hit theaters nationwide on September 6. Tim Burton — known to Disney fans for creating The Nightmare Before Christmas — returned to direct the sequel. Alfred Gough, Seth Grahame-Smith, and Michael McDowell served as the sequel’s writers.
