Pat Sajak has been a face on the screens of American television for the last four decades. Now, the 76-year-old host is taking his final bow on the show.
ABC Landmark Looses Its Host
Host Pat Sajak, who started on Wheel of Fortune in 1982, has become an American television icon over the years. The ABC television host became a household name for the millions of “Wheel of Fortune” fans around the world. While the game show Wheel of Fortune has existed since 1975, it was Sajak’s contribution that made it what it is today.
Throughout his career, Sajak has shared the stage with his longtime co-host Vanna White, who has also been with the show since 1982. Together, the duo forged a strong bond that made the show even more successful. The chemistry between Vanna White and Pat Sajak will surely be missed.

What’s Next for Sajak
After 40 amazing years, Sajak only feels he has room for one more season of Wheel of Fortune. The 41st season, which will premiere in September of 2023, will be the host’s last of his outstanding career. After that, Sajak plans to serve as a consultant for the show while they transition into a new era. Sajak came public with his retirement today, saying;
“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my las. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”
There is no doubt about it: Sajek’s retirement will leave a massive hole in American television. His contribution to the genre has been absolutely remarkable, and a releasing retirement is more than deserved. As of now, ABC has not revealed who his replacement will be after this upcoming season, but whoever it is will surely have big shoes to fill in the hearts of Wheel of Fortune fans.
