A Key Part of Disney’s Bluey Experience Still Hasn’t Opened

When Disney’s Animal Kingdom introduced Bluey’s Wild World earlier this summer, many families immediately added the experience to their must-do lists. The limited-time offering brought one of the world’s most popular children’s franchises into the park, giving younger guests a chance to play, explore, and spend time in a space inspired by Bluey and Bingo.

But while much of the experience is now operating, one major feature remains unavailable.

Jumping Junction, the new Australian animal habitat located at Conservation Station, is still closed to guest walkthroughs weeks after Bluey’s Wild World officially opened.

The area replaced the former Affection Section, which had served as Animal Kingdom’s petting zoo for years. Rather than continuing that concept, Disney transformed the location into an Australian-themed animal encounter designed to better fit Bluey’s roots.

The idea was simple. Guests would be able to walk through the habitat using designated pathways while observing Australian animals in a carefully designed environment. It would create a more immersive experience while maintaining the educational focus Animal Kingdom is known for.

So far, however, guests have only been able to view the animals from outside the enclosure.

The animals themselves are already living in the habitat, and visitors can see them from behind the fencing surrounding the area. From a guest perspective, the space appears largely complete. Pathways are visible, the enclosure is finished, and the habitat looks ready to welcome visitors.

That has led some guests to wonder why Disney has not opened the walkthrough section yet.

The answer appears to come down to the animals.

Disney has indicated that the animals need additional time to acclimate to their new surroundings before guests are allowed into the habitat. While that may be disappointing for visitors hoping to experience the attraction in its final form, it is consistent with Animal Kingdom’s long-standing approach to animal care.

Unlike traditional attractions, animal habitats require flexibility. Every species responds differently to environmental changes, and Disney typically allows plenty of time for animals to adjust before introducing new variables.

In this case, those variables would include a constant flow of guests walking through the area throughout the day.

For now, Disney seems focused on ensuring the animals are comfortable before moving to the next phase of operations.

The delay has not stopped Bluey’s Wild World from becoming a popular destination. Families continue to make the trip to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to experience the themed activities and character interactions. The addition of Bluey has given Animal Kingdom another strong draw for younger visitors, especially during Disney’s summer offerings.

Still, Jumping Junction was expected to be one of the experience’s standout features.

The combination of Australian wildlife and an up-close walkthrough environment would provide something unique within the park. It would also further connect Bluey’s Australian setting with Animal Kingdom’s mission of conservation and animal education.

At the moment, Disney has not announced when the walkthrough will officially open.

Until that happens, guests can continue viewing the animals from outside the habitat while waiting for the experience to become fully operational. Whether that happens in the coming days or several weeks from now remains unclear, but Disney appears willing to take its time to ensure everything is ready before opening the gates.
