One of Disney’s longest-running parades is getting an unexpected shakeup before its final goodbye.
Parades are a major part of the Disney theme park experience, but even the most popular productions rarely last forever. Disney regularly introduces new entertainment to reflect changing audiences, updated technology, and newer films, with existing shows eventually making way for their replacements.

At Walt Disney World Resort, Magic Kingdom hosts two major parades: Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. Seasonal celebrations also bring additional entertainment, including Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
Now, another Disney park is preparing to expand its daytime entertainment schedule, despite already confirming plans for a completely new parade in 2028.
Disney Confirms More Parade Performances Starting January 2027
Disney Stars on Parade is preparing for an unusual comeback at Disneyland Paris.
According to the official Disneyland Paris app, as reported by @PixiedustDLP, the parade is scheduled to return on January 7, 2027, with two daily performances instead of its usual one.

That effectively doubles the opportunities for guests to see the parade, which has served as Disneyland Park’s main daytime procession since 2017.
The change comes after a lengthy hiatus. Disney Stars on Parade officially began its scheduled break today, November 7, and will remain absent through January 6, 2027.
Its temporary removal coincides with Disney Enchanted Christmas, which runs across Disneyland Paris throughout the same period. During the festive celebrations, Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade takes over the park’s parade route.
Introduced in 2021, the Christmas production features five elaborate floats carrying Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses, and Santa Claus. It operates twice daily, including an illuminated evening version featuring hundreds of thousands of lights.

The parade has also received industry recognition. In 2022, Mickey’s Dazzling Christmas Parade won an IAAPA Brass Ring Award for Most Creative Christmas/Holiday Show.
This year’s Disney Enchanted Christmas celebrations also extend to World of Frozen at Disney Adventure World for the first time, with Nordic-inspired decorations and new musical entertainment in Arendelle.
Once the holiday season concludes, however, Disney Stars on Parade will reclaim its place on the schedule with an additional daily performance.
Disney has not yet confirmed whether this expanded schedule will remain in place throughout 2027 or apply only to selected dates.
Disney Prepares to Replace Nearly Decade-Old Parade
Disney Stars on Parade debuted on March 26, 2017, as part of Disneyland Paris’ 25th anniversary celebrations, replacing Disney Magic on Parade.
The production features characters from Frozen (2013), Peter Pan (1953), Toy Story (1995), and The Lion King (1994), alongside Mickey Mouse and his friends. Its most recognizable float is arguably the enormous steampunk-inspired Maleficent dragon, which breathes real fire.
The parade begins near “it’s a small world,” passes Sleeping Beauty Castle, and travels down Main Street, U.S.A., before concluding at Town Square.
Although it remains a popular fixture, Disney Stars on Parade is approaching its tenth anniversary. The production has also experienced occasional technical issues, including missing floats and other effects during some performances.

Its days are now numbered following Disney’s announcement of an entirely new daytime parade for Disneyland Park in 2028.
Revealed during D23 in August 2026, the replacement will introduce brand-new floats, costumes, music, and appearances from characters who don’t currently feature prominently in Disney Stars on Parade.
These include Jasmine and Genie from Aladdin (1992), Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009), Rapunzel from Tangled (2010), and Miguel from Pixar’s Coco (2017).
Disney has also revealed that the production has required more than 10,000 hours of research and technical development, alongside nearly 225 costume, wig, and makeup sketches.

An official premiere date has not yet been announced, nor has Disney confirmed the final performance date for Disney Stars on Parade. However, the new production is expected to succeed the existing parade as Disneyland Park’s main daytime offering.
Guests planning to visit Disneyland Paris in early 2027 should check the official Disneyland Paris app for performance times, as schedules remain subject to change.
