Star Wars Fans Notice Darth Vader Is Missing From His Spot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Darth Vader has a new meet-and-greet location at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though it’s actually a familiar one.

As of Wednesday, October 28, the Sith Lord is no longer meeting guests in the extended Star Tours – The Adventures Continue queue. He’s back at the stage near the AT-AT statue, between Star Tours and Backlot Express.

Where to Find Him

  • Location: Stage between Star Tours and Backlot Express, near the AT-AT statue
  • Times: Various times daily between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM
  • Old spot: Extended Star Tours queue, near the Endor set by Tatooine Traders

Disney hasn’t said.

The March move to the stage turned out to be temporary. Removing the queue sign could point to something longer-term, but nothing has been confirmed.

Why Vader Lost His Original Star Wars Home

Darth Vader used to meet guests at the Star Wars Launch Bay, which served as the main hub for Star Wars characters, merchandise, and interactive elements.

What happened to the Launch Bay:

  • The building originally housed an animation experience
  • It later became the Star Wars Launch Bay
  • It’s now being converted into The Magic of Disney Animation

When the Launch Bay closed, Vader needed a new place to meet guests.

Changes Around Hollywood Studios

The move comes as the nearby Animation Courtyard area has transformed into a space inspired by The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.

Updates include:

  • Repaving and new landscaping
  • Newly planted trees and green spaces
  • Removal of the courtyard’s awning and wait time signs
  • A repainted Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure building
  • New and returning experiences, including The Magic of Disney Animation and a new Disney Jr. show

A Fitting Star Wars Location

The stage area is near the former Jedi Training Academy stage. Having Darth Vader meet guests next to a spot tied to the Jedi is a fun nod to his story.

Tips for Meeting Darth Vader

  • Go to the AT-AT statue area. Skip the Star Tours queue.
  • Check the app. Meet times vary throughout the day.
  • Go early. Lines tend to grow as the day goes on.
  • Have your camera ready. He’s one of the most popular Star Wars meets in the park.

Darth Vader has moved several times in the past year, so this may not be his final stop. For now, fans can find him daily at the stage near the AT-AT statue.
