EPCOT has come a long way since opening in 1982, and Walt Disney World isn’t finished updating the park.
Disney continues to invest in new technology, refresh popular rides, and prepare major projects that could change how guests experience EPCOT for years to come.
But there’s a catch. Not every attraction from the park’s past is getting another opportunity to entertain visitors.
Some experiences have disappeared entirely, even as Disney brings other longtime favorites into the future.
One former World Showcase attraction remains missing from Disney’s plans, despite the company’s continued interest in updating older experiences.
A Different Kind of EPCOT Experience
Most visitors associate World Showcase with its 11 country pavilions, international restaurants, shopping locations, and entertainment.
However, Disney once gave families another reason to spend hours exploring the area.
Rather than moving between pavilions simply to enjoy the scenery, guests could participate in interactive missions that turned World Showcase into a giant adventure.
The experience particularly appealed to children familiar with Disney Channel programming, offering opportunities to interact with familiar characters while discovering hidden details throughout the park.
Unlike traditional attractions, this experience didn’t require guests to board a ride or wait for a show.
Instead, the adventure unfolded as families explored different countries.
That attraction was Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure, an experience that Disney eventually removed from EPCOT.

How World Showcase Transformed
Disney began experimenting with the interactive concept in 2006 before introducing Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure in its familiar form in 2009.
Inspired by the Disney Channel animated series, the attraction invited guests to join Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable on secret missions.
Participants received handheld devices called Kimmunicators, which resembled flip phones.
These devices provided instructions, clues, and messages that directed guests toward different locations throughout World Showcase.
After collecting their equipment from designated kiosks, families could begin investigating villains connected to the television series.
Each mission involved exploring a pavilion, completing assignments, and solving puzzles.
But the experience went beyond following instructions on a screen.
Kimmunicators also activated special effects hidden throughout the pavilions.

Guests could press buttons and watch nearby objects move, illuminate, or respond to their actions.
These unexpected interactions made ordinary decorations feel like important pieces of a larger adventure.
Disney offered seven missions, allowing visitors to experience different stories across multiple visits.
Families could also complete one assignment before moving on to another.
For younger Disney Channel fans, the opportunity to become part of Kim Possible’s world made exploring EPCOT feel completely different.
Unfortunately, Disney eventually decided to replace the experience.
Disney Replaced the Adventure Twice
Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure officially closed in 2012, ending its original run after approximately three years.
Disney introduced Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure as its replacement, maintaining the interactive concept while introducing characters from Phineas and Ferb.
This time, guests helped Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P, complete secret missions.
The attraction continued incorporating hidden effects throughout World Showcase, giving families opportunities to discover interactive surprises.
Disney later replaced Agent P with DuckTales World Showcase Adventure.
Instead of using the original Kimmunicator devices, this version operated through the Play Disney Parks app.
However, Disney permanently discontinued that app on September 16, 2026, ending the original app-based format.
Disney has confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will return in a modified version.
That announcement doesn’t include a comeback for Kim Possible, though.
Despite the continued evolution of World Showcase’s interactive experiences, Disney hasn’t announced plans to restore the original attraction.

EPCOT’s Future Looks Very Different
Elsewhere at EPCOT, Disney continues updating attractions that have entertained visitors for years.
Test Track underwent a major reimagining focused on transportation history and innovation.
Frozen Ever After also received improved animatronics, giving several familiar characters updated appearances.
Meanwhile, Soarin’ Across America debuted in May 2026 as part of celebrations surrounding America’s 250th anniversary.
More projects remain on the horizon.
Disney has discussed updating Journey Into Imagination With Figment, including plans involving Dreamfinder’s return.
Spaceship Earth is also preparing for a refresh following announcements during the 2026 D23 convention.
These developments show that Disney remains interested in revisiting established attractions.
However, Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure hasn’t appeared among those announced projects.

One EPCOT Favorite Remains in the Past
Disney has spent decades changing EPCOT, and the park will continue evolving as additional projects move forward.
Some familiar attractions receive major investments, while others become memories for guests who experienced them.
Kim Possible: World Showcase Adventure currently belongs to the second group.
Although Disney could revisit the concept someday, the company hasn’t announced a return for Kim Possible’s missions.
For now, the original adventure remains a discontinued piece of EPCOT history.
