Star Wars Brings Back Mandalorian and Grogu in Brand-New Sequel

Disney and Lucasfilm may be rethinking the future of The Mandalorian on screen, but fans of Din Djarin and Grogu aren’t being left without new adventures.

The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026), which continued the Disney+ series on the big screen earlier this year, earned $345 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $165 million. That total makes it the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film at the worldwide box office.

The Future of Mandalorian and Grogu in Live Action Is Unknown

The film also received mixed reviews, and a fourth season of The Mandalorian has reportedly been scrapped. While the series remains a major success for Disney+, the franchise’s plans for Din and Grogu beyond their movie are unclear.

Now, the pair have returned in a new Star Wars comic, offering another story for readers while questions remain about their next live-action appearance.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu—Nightmare on Nevarro arrived on October 21, 2026, through Mad Cave Studios and Papercutz, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Publishing. The one-shot, written by Delilah S. Dawson and illustrated by Alessandro Ranaldi, brings a Halloween-inspired mystery to the galaxy far, far away.

The story follows the Mandalorian and his foundling as they investigate sinister creatures with glowing red eyes that are terrorizing Nevarro. Their search leads them into the planet’s magma-filled lava tubes, where they must uncover the truth behind the frightening encounters.

Set between The Mandalorian Season 3 (2023) and The Mandalorian and Grogu, the comic follows Danger in the Dark, another publication featuring the pair released earlier this year.

Clearly, the film’s box-office performance doesn’t mean their adventures have stopped. Alongside the new comic, the duo remain part of the wider Star Wars publishing and gaming landscape, while LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian (2026) offers another animated take on the characters. Their feature film is also now available to stream on Disney+.

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm’s next theatrical release is Star Wars: Starfighter (2027), an original adventure starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy. The film is scheduled to arrive on May 28, 2027.
