Hollywood Studios Hours Cut Short: Disney World Enforces Daily 6 PM Closure

Hollywood Studios guests may want to think twice before saving everything on their must-do list for later in the day.

With rides, shows, character experiences, dining reservations, and Lightning Lane return times all competing for attention, it’s easy to push certain activities into the evening. But that strategy could now backfire.

Several newer offerings follow schedules that end surprisingly early, including two that finish at 6 p.m. Here’s what guests should know before planning their day.

Some New Experiences End Hours Before the Park

The 6 p.m. cutoff does not apply to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as a whole.

Instead, guests will find shorter operating windows for some experiences inside The Magic of Disney Animation, which recently opened in Animation Courtyard.

The area had varying operating hours during its opening weeks, but guests now have a clearer picture of when several experiences are available.

Both Olaf Draws! and the Once Upon a Studio Theater are currently scheduled from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Other experiences follow their own schedules, with some beginning earlier and continuing later. As a result, guests shouldn’t assume everything inside the building opens and closes at the same time.

Once Upon a Studio Stops at 6 p.m.

The Once Upon a Studio Theater gives guests an eight-hour window each day under the current schedule.

Showings begin at 10 a.m., with the experience scheduled to finish at 6 p.m.

That might sound like plenty of time, but Hollywood Studios has plenty of other attractions competing for those same hours.

Guests may spend the morning trying to knock out popular rides before crowds build. Later, dining reservations, scheduled shows, and Lightning Lane return windows can quickly fill an afternoon.

If Once Upon a Studio gets pushed to the bottom of the list, waiting until after dinner could mean arriving after the experience has already finished for the day.

Off the Page! Runs on Different Hours

Character fans currently have a slightly larger window to visit Off the Page!

The character experiences are scheduled from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Some previously ended at 6:15 p.m., so the current schedule gives guests a little extra time.

Off the Page! brings Disney characters into themed settings inspired by animation. Rapunzel and Stitch are among the characters guests may encounter during their visit.

The 6:30 p.m. closing time still arrives well before many guests are ready to leave Hollywood Studios, though.

Families who normally save character meet-and-greets for the evening may want to move this experience higher on their list.

Olaf Draws! Can’t Wait Until Nighttime

Olaf Draws! follows the same 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. operating window as the Once Upon a Studio Theater.

The interactive animation experience lets families draw alongside Olaf and offers an alternative to Hollywood Studios’ traditional rides.

However, guests don’t have the entire day in the park to experience it.

Someone who spends the afternoon elsewhere and plans to return after dinner could find Olaf Draws! already closed. Guests who definitely want to participate should plan for an earlier visit and check the schedule before heading over.

That becomes especially important on a day when wait times or other plans take longer than expected.

Families Have More Reasons to Visit Animation Courtyard

Animation Courtyard now offers more for families to work into their schedules.

Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! provides entertainment geared toward younger visitors, while Drawn to Wonderland gives children another place to play.

Those additions can make the area worth spending more time in rather than treating it as a quick stop between major attractions.

Still, there is plenty pulling guests elsewhere.

Slinky Dog Dash, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror can easily become priorities earlier in the day. Guests may naturally focus on those attractions before turning their attention to the Animation Courtyard.

That can work, but waiting until nighttime may not.

Keep an Eye on the Clock

Guests don’t need to abandon their Hollywood Studios plans due to shorter schedules. They simply need to know which experiences have earlier deadlines.

Olaf Draws! and the Once Upon a Studio Theater currently operate until 6 p.m., while Off the Page! character experiences continue through 6:30 p.m.

Disney can adjust operating schedules, making the My Disney Experience app an important tool for checking hours during a visit.

There may still be hours left in the Hollywood Studios day when 6 p.m. arrives. But for guests who put off these newer experiences for too long, part of their to-do list may already be unavailable.
