Disney World Removes Longtime Frontierland Offering, Replacement Now in Effect
Another change has arrived in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, although this one is considerably smaller than the massive transformation happening just outside.
Guests visiting Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe will no longer find Tabasco as the restaurant’s hot sauce option. Disney World has replaced it with Tapatío, and the new option is already available.
It’s a small adjustment, but longtime Disney World visitors know that changes to familiar restaurants can still stand out. It also comes at an interesting time for Frontierland, which is experiencing some of the biggest changes in its history.
Tapatío Takes Over at Pecos Bill
Tapatío is now the only hot sauce option available at Pecos Bill, replacing Tabasco.
The change isn’t exclusive to Magic Kingdom. Tapatío recently appeared at ABC Commissary in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as well, indicating that the switch is part of a broader rollout across Walt Disney World.
Guests familiar with Tabasco may notice a difference beyond the label.
Tabasco Original Red Sauce primarily combines distilled vinegar, red peppers, and salt, giving it a particularly vinegar-forward taste. Tapatío uses water, red peppers, garlic, spices, and other ingredients, creating a thicker sauce and different flavor profile.
The rollout also comes after Disney announced a new partnership with Kraft Heinz in July. New Heinz condiment dispensers have started appearing at Disney properties, including Disneyland Resort and Disney Cruise Line. Tapatío isn’t owned by Heinz, but the companies do have a distribution relationship.
Frontierland Keeps Changing
The timing makes the Pecos Bill replacement another change in a land already undergoing a much larger transformation.
Disney is currently developing Piston Peak National Park, which will bring a Cars-inspired environment to Magic Kingdom. The project follows the permanent closures of the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat.
Disney Villains Land is also planned for this area of Magic Kingdom, eventually adding two major attractions alongside new dining and shopping.
Even Big Thunder Mountain Railroad recently went through its own transformation. Disney closed the attraction in January 2025 for an extensive refurbishment before reopening it in May 2026.
Compared to those projects, replacing Tabasco at Pecos Bill is obviously minor. Still, it’s another noticeable difference for returning visitors.
Frontierland is changing on nearly every scale right now. While construction reshapes entire sections of Magic Kingdom, even something as simple as what guests grab to add some heat to their lunch isn’t staying exactly the same.
