‘Star Wars’ Confirms More Adventures for The Mandalorian and Grogu After Movie Struggles
The Mandalorian and Grogu are set to return in a number of upcoming Star Wars projects, including a new board game expansion, a trading card game set, and an animated LEGO special arriving on Disney+ later this year.
The Mandalorian and Grogu Have Returned to Star Wars
The Mandalorian: Adventures – Sworn to the Creed Expansion will relive the events of The Mandalorian Season 1 and serves as the second major expansion for Unexpected Games’ cooperative board game. The new expansion, which features Grogu, releases on July 31.
Meanwhile, Din Djarin recently appeared in Fantasy Flight Games’ Ashes of the Empire, the eighth set for the Star Wars: Unlimited trading card game, which launched on July 17.
However, the biggest upcoming return comes with LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian (2026), a new animated special that premieres on Disney+ on September 2.
“This is the Way. LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a new special from Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group, is coming to Disney+ on September 2,” Lucasfilm states. “Filled with unexpected laughs and action-packed fun, this new animated galactic adventure celebrates your favorite stories and characters from all three seasons of The Mandalorian series, making it perfect for Star Wars and LEGO fans of all ages.”

The projects arrive as the future of The Mandalorian and its characters remains uncertain following the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu (2026), the first Star Wars movie in over six years since The Rise of Skywalker (2019).
When The Mandalorian launched on Disney+ in 2019, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu, who was initially referred to by fans as “Baby Yoda,” quickly became one of the most popular duos in Star Wars.
The series, which was the first live-action Star Wars show, expanded into a wider “Mando-Verse” that included The Book of Boba Fett (2021), Ahsoka (2023), and Skeleton Crew (2024), alongside three seasons of The Mandalorian.
However, the franchise has faced challenges in recent years. The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and The Mandalorian Season 3 (2023) all received mixed responses, while The Mandalorian & Grogu earned just $342.4 million worldwide against a reported $165 million budget.
Directed by Jon Favreau and written by Dave Filoni, Noah Kloor, and Favreau, The Mandalorian & Grogu stars Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and Jeremy Allen White.
It arrives on digital platforms on July 21.
