FINALLY CONFIRMED: Disney World Unveils Highly Anticipated ‘Monsters, Inc.’ Movie Locations
Disney has given fans their most detailed look yet at the upcoming Monsters, Inc.-themed expansion coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
After months of rumors, concept art analysis, and speculation across the Disney community, the company released a major summer update that reveals new locations, fresh story details, and additional clues about what guests can expect when they eventually enter the world of monsters.
While Disney is still holding back some of the biggest surprises, the latest reveal answers several questions fans have been asking since the project was first announced.
The Foundation Was Already There
Long before this newest announcement, Disney had already offered a glimpse of what was in the works.
The biggest attention-grabber was concept art showing a suspended roller coaster soaring through the city. Fans quickly connected it to the famous door vault sequence from Monsters, Inc. (2001), creating excitement about how Disney might bring that scene to life.
Disney also previously showcased the Monsters, Inc. headquarters building in artwork, confirming that guests would be stepping directly into the city’s streets rather than visiting a loosely themed area.
Still, many details remained unknown.
That’s what makes this latest update so significant.

An Iconic Dining Location Becomes a Reality
One of the most-discussed fan theories centers on Harryhausen’s.
The restaurant became a memorable part of the original film despite its brief appearance. Its unique design and connection to Mike and Celia helped turn it into one of the locations fans most wanted Disney to recreate.
The newest concept art appears to show exactly that happening.
Fans examining the artwork quickly spotted a building that strongly resembles Harryhausen’s, with an exterior that closely matches the version seen in the movie.
Disney hasn’t explained what guests will actually find there, but its appearance in the artwork has already sparked plenty of excitement.

Another Mystery Emerges
The announcement also introduced fans to a new location called the Glob Theater.
Disney hasn’t shared many details, only fueling curiosity.
Many fans believe the name is a monster-themed play on the famous Globe Theatre in London. Beyond that, little is known.
The concept art suggests it could be tied to an entertainment offering. Still, Disney has not confirmed whether guests will find a live show, a special experience, or something entirely different.
For now, it remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in the project.

Building a Living City
Disney’s latest materials continue referring to the area as Monstropolis.
The company has used that name before, and its continued use strongly suggests it will remain the new land’s identity moving forward.
More importantly, Disney appears focused on creating an actual city rather than simply assembling attractions inspired by the film.
The artwork shows a place filled with recognizable locations, streets, businesses, and gathering spaces that help make Monstropolis feel alive.
That approach could make the area feel much more immersive when guests finally arrive.
The Story Disney Wants Guests to Experience
Along with the artwork, Disney revealed more of the land’s narrative.
Guests will visit during H.U.M.A.N. Day, a celebration that brings monsters and humans together.
Within the story, both groups are learning that they have far less to fear from one another than they once believed. The celebration allows visitors to explore the city, meet residents, enjoy food offerings, and experience monster culture firsthand.
The setup naturally explains why humans are welcome inside Monstropolis while creating opportunities for entertainment and interactive experiences throughout the land.

Is Disney Teasing a Bigger Reveal?
The announcement included a fictional newspaper from Monstropolis that may contain clues about what’s coming next.
References to restaurant menus and theater productions pointed readers toward “Page 8, Column 15.”
Many fans quickly connected those numbers to August 15, the date of the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23.
Disney has not confirmed that interpretation, but it has certainly generated discussion.
If fans are correct, Disney may be saving additional details about Harryhausen’s, the Glob Theater, and other elements of Monstropolis for a much larger reveal later this summer.
For now, Monstropolis is beginning to come into focus, and Disney fans finally have plenty of new details to explore.
