Disney World Confirms New Construction Plans After 10 Permit Filings
Walt Disney World isn’t just changing—it feels like it’s constantly in motion. New experiences are on the horizon, resorts are evolving, and construction has become part of the everyday park experience. Whether you’re walking through the parks or just keeping up with updates, it’s clear Disney is moving forward in a big way.
And when that much work is happening, permits usually tell the story before Disney does. That’s exactly what’s happening now. Disney has filed 10 new permits for different areas across the resort, and while each might seem small on its own, together they point to real progress happening behind the scenes.
Permits 1–6 Signal Momentum at Lakeshore Lodge
The biggest group of permits centers around Lakeshore Lodge, Disney’s upcoming resort near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. This project has already been drawing attention, and these new filings confirm it’s continuing to move ahead.
Disney submitted six separate permits for signage installation throughout the resort. While signage may not seem like a major milestone, it usually signals that a project is entering a more developed stage. It’s part of defining the resort’s identity and bringing the vision closer to reality.
Disney has shared that Lakeshore Lodge will take inspiration from nature and the ways natural settings have influenced Disney artists. With a projected 2027 opening, these permits show Disney is actively working toward that goal and continuing to push the project forward.

Permit 7 Expands Work at Port Orleans — Riverside
Shifting away from new construction, the next permit focuses on Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort. Disney filed a general construction permit for the main building, suggesting that work at the resort is far from complete.
Bruns, Inc., a contractor based in Windermere, Florida, is listed on the permit, which points to real, ongoing work. Port Orleans — Riverside has already been undergoing refurbishment, with timelines stretching into August 2027.
This latest filing hints that updates may go beyond guest rooms or smaller upgrades. Work on the main building could bring more noticeable changes, adding another layer to the resort’s ongoing refresh.

Permit 8 Keeps Big Top Souvenirs Moving
At Magic Kingdom, Big Top Souvenirs continues to be part of the construction conversation. The Storybook Circus shop has been closed for refurbishment, and this new permit shows that work is still actively progressing.
The filing is categorized as general construction, which leaves plenty of room for interpretation. While it doesn’t confirm what changes are coming, it does make one thing clear—the project is still moving forward.
MMR Constructors is attached to the permit; Disney has worked with the company across multiple projects. For a location as visible as Big Top Souvenirs, even a moderate update could have a noticeable impact once it reopens.

Permit 9 Pushes Animation Courtyard Forward
Disney’s Hollywood Studios continues to evolve, and this next permit adds to that ongoing transformation. Animation Courtyard is being reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios, bringing new experiences and energy to the area.
The permit focuses on installing set elements, which play a key role in shaping the guest environment. While it might sound like a small detail, it’s an important step in bringing the reimagined space to life.
Disney has already outlined big plans for this area, and this filing reinforces that progress is continuing behind the scenes.

Permit 10 Suggests Changes at Refreshment Port
The final permit takes us to EPCOT, where Disney has filed paperwork for the installation of set elements at Refreshment Port. The location, near the Canada Pavilion, closed for refurbishment earlier this year, and Disney hasn’t revealed exactly what’s coming next.
That’s what makes this permit stand out. References to set elements often point to visual updates, which could mean the location returns with a refreshed look.
Even if the changes are subtle, EPCOT is a park where atmosphere matters, and updates like this can make a noticeable difference.

Disney World is Evolving
When you look at all 10 permits together, the bigger picture becomes clear. Lakeshore Lodge is progressing. Port Orleans — Riverside continues to evolve. Big Top Souvenirs is still being refreshed. Animation Courtyard is transforming. And EPCOT may be preparing something new at Refreshment Port.
That’s a lot happening at once, and it shows Disney is building across multiple fronts. Some updates will be obvious right away. Others will take time to reveal themselves. But one thing is certain—Disney World is firmly in a season of change.
