Disney World Finally Reveals Opening Date for Long-Awaited New Land
For a long time, this project sat behind construction walls and unanswered questions. Guests walking through Hollywood Studios knew something was changing, but Disney stayed quiet about when it would all come together.
That has finally changed.
Disney has now confirmed when guests will be able to experience one of its newest reimagined spaces. The announcement didn’t come with a massive reveal or headline event, but it still carries weight. This update marks another step forward for a park that continues to evolve rapidly.
And when you look at everything happening across Walt Disney World, this reveal feels like part of something much bigger.
A Resort in the Middle of Big Change
Hollywood Studios isn’t the only park seeing updates. Across Walt Disney World, Disney continues to roll out new ideas while revisiting classic attractions.
Magic Kingdom remains at the center of long-term expansion plans, with a Villains-themed land still on the horizon. At the same time, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are both undergoing changes that could refresh how guests experience these longtime favorites.
Back at Hollywood Studios, the future looks just as busy. Monstropolis is on the way, adding to a park that already transformed dramatically with the arrival of Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
With so much happening at once, it’s easy to miss smaller projects. But one specific area is about to take a major step forward.

Saying Goodbye to Animation Courtyard
Animation Courtyard once served as a quieter section of Hollywood Studios. It offered family-friendly shows, character meet-and-greets, and experiences such as Star Wars Launch Bay.
That version of the area is now gone.
Disney closed Animation Courtyard to begin a full reimagining of the space. This isn’t just a simple update. Imagineers are reshaping the entire area with a new identity centered around Disney animation.
Instead of holding onto the old concept, Disney is introducing something that feels more interactive and connected to the creative process behind its films.
A Confirmed Opening Date
Disney has now revealed that the first phase of this reimagined area, called “The Walt Disney Studios,” will open on May 26, 2026.
Guests will step into a refreshed outdoor courtyard along with a new stage show designed for younger audiences. While this marks only the beginning, it sets the tone for everything that will follow later in the summer.
The area draws inspiration from the real Walt Disney Animation Studios in California, bringing that creative atmosphere into the park.

A New Disney Jr. Show Arrives
Opening day will feature a brand-new live show inspired by the updated Mickey Mouse Clubhouse series.
In this experience, Mickey and Minnie invite guests to a party—but something goes wrong. Their friends haven’t arrived, and the audience helps find Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto along the way.
The show blends music, storytelling, and audience participation, replacing previous Disney Junior offerings with something fresh and interactive.

A Bigger Expansion Still Ahead
The next major addition arrives later in summer 2026 with The Magic of Disney Animation.
This indoor experience takes over the former Star Wars Launch Bay space and brings animation to life in a playful way. Inspired by Once Upon a Studio (2023), the story imagines what happens when animators step away, and characters take over the building.
Guests will explore an interactive area, including “Drawn to Wonderland,” inspired by early concepts for Alice in Wonderland (1951). The space encourages exploration with oversized environments and creative play elements.
The experience also includes character interactions and a drawing class led by an Olaf animatronic from Frozen (2013). The building itself reflects the look of Disney’s Burbank animation studio, complete with a Sorcerer Mickey hat on top.

A Busy Summer at Hollywood Studios
This new area arrives during one of the busiest seasons the park has seen in years.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will introduce a new mission on May 22, giving guests a reason to return. Meanwhile, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will reopen in summer 2026 with a new Muppets theme, replacing its original Aerosmith storyline.
Together, these updates signal a summer full of change.

Looking Ahead
The opening of The Walt Disney Studios marks another step in Hollywood Studios’ ongoing transformation.
The park has shifted far beyond its original concept, evolving into a collection of immersive environments built around storytelling. This new space continues that trend while celebrating Disney’s animation legacy.
With an opening date now confirmed, guests finally have something concrete to look forward to as the next chapter begins.
