COVID-19 Protocols Return to Disneyland – What Guests Need To Know

This week, COVID-19 social distancing markers reappeared at Disneyland Paris Resort—but only on the park‘s new digital map, where AI-generated imagery apparently copied outdated Google Maps data showing pandemic-era protocols removed years ago.

The discovery emerged after Disneyland Paris Resort updated its app with 2-D illustrated park maps, replacing previous 3-D renders. X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport posted these comparison images:

Guests examining the new Disneyland Park map noticed unlabeled blue squares near “it’s a small world” along Fantasyland pathways and inside the attraction queue. The marks matched social distancing stickers used during COVID-19 closures and initial reopening phases.

@RGameplayXtreme compared the app map to Google Maps satellite imagery, showing the same stickers:

Small World is still stuck in 2021 with the social distancing stickers

Google Maps aerial photos still display the markers, even though they were removed from the actual Disney park years ago.

AI Generation Theory

Fans theorized that Disneyland Paris Resort used artificial intelligence to convert Google Maps imagery into illustrated map graphics. @DLPTownSquare wrote:

Oh. They clearly generated it with AI from google maps.

The hypothesis explains why pandemic-era infrastructure appears on brand-new digital maps—AI tools transformed outdated satellite photos into illustrated versions, failing to recognize temporary COVID-19 elements that no longer exist in reality.

There’s still COVID on the Dlp map 😂 [Translated from French]

Disneyland Paris Resort hasn’t responded to AI allegations or corrected the digital map. The COVID-19 markers remain visible in the official app.

What This Means for Guests

The markers exist only digitally—Disneyland Paris Resort removed physical social distancing stickers years ago. Guests visiting the park won’t encounter COVID-19 protocols despite their appearance on app maps.

For guests planning Disneyland Paris visits, ignore the blue squares near “it’s a small world” on digital maps. They’re digital artifacts from 2020-2021, not current park policies or markings you’ll find on actual walkways and queues.
