Guests Trapped at Six Flags Mexico, Local Authorities Report
A recent storm at Six Flags Mexico left guests trapped inside park buildings as severe flooding and hail overwhelmed parts of the park. Footage shared by visitors on social media showed water flooding past construction walls, around roller coasters, and through outdoor dining areas. Guests were forced to take shelter in gift shops and other park buildings.
On September 8, La Jornada Mexico shared videos of the flooding incident at Six Flags Mexico, which quickly gained traction on Instagram. “After the strong storm with hail in #CDMX, visitors to #SixFlagsMéxico caught on video how several areas of the park were drowned,” the news outlet reported.

Although Six Flags Mexico did not issue a public statement about the flooding, it appears that the park did not suffer any long-term damage from the weather. The incident, however, brought back memories of a viral event in 2024, when guests were left dangling mid-air on a ride during a rainstorm.
Six Flags Mexico is the most-visited theme park in Latin America, having opened in 1982 as Reino Aventura (Adventure Kingdom). The park was once home to Keiko, the orca featured in the movie Free Willy (1993), before being purchased by Premier Parks in 1999 and rebranded as Six Flags Mexico. While other Six Flags parks in North America often close during the off-season, Six Flags Mexico operates year-round, with only occasional reduced hours after Festival del Terror (Fright Fest) and Christmas in the Park conclude.
The Mexican theme park is busy constructing a new Vekoma Family Boomerang coaster, the Speedway Stunt Coaster, set to open in 2026. This new attraction will mark the park’s 10th roller coaster, adding to its ever-growing list of thrills since Wonder Woman debuted in 2018.
