No More Reservations: Disney Rolls Out Walk-In-Only Policy

Disneyland Park has changed how fans can step inside one of its most immersive Star Wars experiences. Effective today, Oga’s Cantina at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will no longer accept new reservations, instead offering walk-up availability through a traditional standby queue. Guests with existing reservations will still have their plans honored.

The End of Advanced Reservations

Previously, Oga’s Cantina allowed visitors to secure their spot weeks in advance, making it a highly sought-after destination for Star Wars fans visiting Disneyland. The cantina is known for its themed cocktails, intergalactic ambiance, and lively Star Wars soundtrack, and advanced reservations ensured guests could plan their visit without worrying about long waits.

Now, anyone hoping to grab a drink at Oga’s will need to prepare for standby wait times, which can vary depending on park attendance. While Disney has not given a specific reason for the policy change, walk-up availability may allow for more spontaneous visits and reduce the administrative burden of managing reservations.

Existing Reservations Still Valid

Guests who have already booked their visits will not be affected by the shift. The transition ensures that anyone who made reservations ahead of time retains their experience, reflecting Disneyland’s ongoing effort to streamline operations and adjust to post-pandemic attendance trends.

Despite the operational change, Oga’s Cantina continues to deliver its signature Star Wars environment, featuring drinks like the Fuzzy Tauntaun, Bespin Fizz, and Blue Bantha, alongside music curated by DJ R-3X. The immersive interactivity that has made the cantina a fan favorite since its opening remains intact, offering guests a chance to fully step into the galaxy far, far away.

For those planning a visit, the new standby system emphasizes flexibility: arrive early, check in with cast members, and be prepared for variable wait times. Disney also encourages fans to explore other Star Wars experiences in the park while waiting for a chance to step inside Oga’s Cantina.

This operational shift underscores Disneyland’s ongoing challenge of balancing the magic of highly themed experiences with accessibility for large crowds. With Oga’s Cantina now operating on a walk-up basis, Star Wars enthusiasts can still enjoy its intergalactic atmosphere—though a little extra spontaneity will be required.

  1. I think that’s to bad…I was at the park twice last year and had reservations at Olga’s. My experience tho times was I probably wouldn’t have gotten in without the reservations As there were long lines to get in.seems Disney is favoring locals way to much anymore. For us flying in everything has become more expensive than those those that live there. Sad indeed.
