New technology is now available to capture your family’s magical moments at Walt Disney World Resort. The resort has introduced new, high-tech cameras for Disney PhotoPass photographers, and the upgrade is already complete at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Photographers at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and other locations on property will soon receive the same upgraded equipment.
A few weeks ago, guests spotted Disney PhotoPass cast members testing Sony A7IV cameras across the parks. These new cameras replace the Nikon D7500 cameras that Disney has used for years. The shift follows the end of a partnership between Walt Disney World Resort and Nikon in 2021, which sparked the removal of official Nikon signage from around the parks.
According to BlogMickey, Disney cast members confirmed that the Sony A7IV cameras are officially in use at EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. At Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, some photographers are still using the Nikon models, though the transition to Sony is already underway. Disney has hinted that the camera updates won’t be limited to just the theme parks.
The Sony A7IV camera, which is priced around $2,700, offers an impressive boost in image quality, particularly when combined with a flash attachment and the 24-105 f4 G-series lens (valued around $1,400). While Walt Disney World Resort likely isn’t paying full price for these cameras, the upgrade promises to significantly enhance the quality of photos taken during your theme park visit, ensuring those family memories are captured in high detail.
Disney PhotoPass photographers can be found across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. They’re occasionally stationed at Disney Springs and select Disney Resort hotels, especially during special events or the holiday season.
Walt Disney World Resort offers two options for purchasing Disney PhotoPass images and ride photos: individually or through the Memory Maker package. Guests can choose the one-day Memory Maker for $75, or opt for a multi-day Memory Maker at $185 if purchased up to three days in advance, or $210 if purchased closer to the visit.
