Guests Think They’ve Found a Secret Way to Keep Liberty Belle Sailing—Find Out How!

In the midst of major changes at Magic Kingdom Park, including the addition of a new ‘Cars’ themed area, Disney fans are getting creative with their nostalgia for the beloved Liberty Belle attraction. While the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle have been closed to make way for the upcoming expansion, a new “loophole” has emerged that’s capturing the imagination of guests.

A Playful “License” to Save the Liberty Belle

As the Liberty Belle closed its doors temporarily, certain guests were issued certificates signed by Mickey Mouse, humorously declaring them licensed to act as the pilot of the iconic boat. The certificate reads:

The undersigned Inspector for the District of Liberty Square certifies that: (NAME) has been examined this day and has successfully demonstrated proficiency as PILOT of THE LIBERTY BELLE and is hereby declared licensed to act as such for one year from this date on THE RIVERS of AMERICA in the MAGIC KINGDOM at the WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT.

This fun gesture from Disney has led some guests to jokingly claim they’ve found a loophole to save the attraction. “Think I found a loophole,” one guest shared on social media, “Think they’ll let me use this today? It says it’s good for a year.” Another guest chimed in, writing, “I have mine too. TOGETHER WE STORM THE SHIP.”

Nostalgic Fun Amid Major Changes

The issuance of these certificates was a lighthearted move by Disney to acknowledge the Liberty Belle’s closure, but it has fueled amusing discussions among guests about returning to the attraction after its closure. The Liberty Belle, which has long been a fixture of Magic Kingdom, holds deep sentimental value for fans, making the playful “loophole” all the more appealing.

With major changes on the horizon for Magic Kingdom, including the upcoming Cars-themed expansion, many guests have expressed sadness over the closure of classic attractions like the Liberty Belle. However, this lighthearted twist has allowed fans to channel their nostalgia into something fun and optimistic, even as the park evolves.

Looking to the Future

While it’s clear that the Liberty Belle remains closed, and the “loophole” won’t be allowing guests back on the boat anytime soon, the creative spirit of Disney fans continues to thrive. As Magic Kingdom moves forward with its expansion, the excitement for new attractions remains high, but guests’ affection for the park’s legacy will undoubtedly continue to shine through.
