“Indoctrination Before Nap Time”: Critics Lash Out at Disney’s Pride Nite

Disneyland has officially announced ticket sale dates for its highly anticipated Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite event in 2025. While the celebration promises an evening of vibrant entertainment and LGBTQ+ pride, the announcement has not come without controversy.

Tickets for the after-hours event will go on sale beginning April 16, exclusively for Magic Key Holders. General public sales will open the following day, April 17. Disney has noted that the virtual queue for ticket purchases will open no earlier than 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time on both days, giving eager guests a chance to secure their spot for this limited-capacity event.

Tickets Go On Sale, Backlash Begins

Pride Nite is part of Disneyland’s “After Dark” series, which offers themed evenings at the park with special entertainment, character appearances, exclusive snacks, and colorful nighttime décor. The event is designed as an inclusive celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, featuring live music, dance parties, photo opportunities, and themed merchandise. It’s an extension of Disney’s ongoing efforts to highlight diversity and create welcoming spaces for all guests.

However, not everyone is embracing the announcement. Almost immediately after ticket details were revealed, a wave of backlash surfaced online from critics who accused Disney of promoting political agendas to young audiences. One user on X (formerly Twitter) expressed frustration, claiming:

“Disney just announced their ‘Pride Nite’ events for toddlers to celebrate LGBTQ pride. I guess they aren’t satisfied with their multiple box office FLOPS and would like to see more FAILS. Will they ever learn.”

Another post went even further, criticizing both the ticket price and the event’s theme:

“Ah yes, nothing says ‘magic’ like a $169 ticket to indoctrinate toddlers before nap time. Disney used to sell dreams—now it sells identity politics in mouse ears. Keep going, guys. At this rate, bankruptcy will be gender-neutral too.”

A Controversial Topic

Such sentiments reflect a broader culture clash Disney has increasingly faced in recent years, as the company continues to expand its inclusivity initiatives while balancing backlash from critics who argue that the brand is straying from its traditional family entertainment roots.

Despite the criticism, Disney’s Pride Nite events have proven popular with many park-goers, often selling out quickly. For supporters, the celebration represents a meaningful step toward greater representation and visibility within one of the world’s most iconic family destinations.

As of now, Disneyland has not responded publicly to the negative commentary, maintaining focus on the upcoming event and preparations to welcome thousands of guests looking forward to the festivities.

Tickets are expected to move fast once sales open next week. Guests interested in attending are encouraged to be ready to join the virtual queue promptly at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time on their respective sale dates.

  1. If you’re opposed to this event then DON’T GO. Why are people so threatened by others that are different from them?

  2. STAY HOME!!!!! You can’t “Indoctrinate” someone into being gay! Ignorant people who think they are ” the only right ones.”

  3. Why is there a need for a LGBTQ night? Disney is not supposed to be political. It should to be completely inclusive, no special this or that type person day or night. Does Disney have a black night? Does Disney have a female night? What about a male night? How about immigrants night? There is no need to single anyone out. Disney should stick to Disney things. People of all ilk simply want to be entertained. Entertainment and vacations are all people’s chance to escape day to day life.

    1. So let’s get rid of Graduates nights and Military events and while we are at it, get rid of Christmas Celebrations. After all, not everyone is Christian.

Get over yourself. If Disney wants to highlight THAT THEY DON’T DISCRIMINATE, why should you care. Stay home.

And for the poster in the article who said Disney is into indoctrinating toddlers, good parents wouldn’t keep they’re kids up so late, unless they were celebrating their own family.

I just can’t with all you hateful people.

  4. This is a after dark event. Why on Earth would somebody bring a toddler to it anyway. But I’m so tired of all. This “indoctrination” crap. You can’t and you can’t indoctrinate somebody being gay or transgender.
Kudos to Disney for continuing with this event.
