Is ‘Encanto’ Getting a Sequel? Star Drops Major Hint, Fans Are Buzzing!

The magic of Disney’s animated storytelling continues to captivate audiences, even years after a film’s release. Few movies have sparked as much conversation as Encanto, a film that not only charmed viewers with its vibrant depiction of the Madrigal family but also introduced a world where every member is blessed with a unique gift.

While the film’s success has left a lasting impression, hints about what might come next have kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Encanto burst onto the scene in 2021, a time when the world was gradually emerging from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Set in the hills of Colombia, the film tells the story of the Madrigal family, whose members are all endowed with magical abilities — except for one. Mirabel, often seen as the outsider within her own family, struggles to find her place.

Unlike her relatives, Mirabel does not possess an obvious magical gift. However, her determination and inner strength make her a pivotal character in preserving the family’s legacy.

Her journey of self-discovery, along with the challenges she faces with her stern abuela and the mysterious, ostracized Uncle Bruno, created a narrative that resonated with audiences around the globe.

Fans were particularly moved by the film’s music, masterfully crafted by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The catchy tune “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” not only topped the charts — surpassing even the famous “Let It Go” from Frozen (2013) — but also became one of the most celebrated Disney songs ever recorded.

This musical success, combined with the film’s heartfelt storytelling and stunning visuals, has cemented Encanto as a modern classic. Naturally, the enduring popularity of the film has led many to wonder what lies ahead for the Madrigal family.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, John Leguizamo, the actor who brought Uncle Bruno to life with his distinctive voice, has been vocal about his desire to see more of the Encanto universe.

“I’m also waiting for an Encanto 2 when all we do is talk about Bruno,” Leguizamo said, alluding to one of the movie’s fan-favorite songs “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”

“I’m calling them every day saying ‘When is No. 2 coming?’ They’re trying to come up with the storyline. They’re working on it,” Leguizamo added.

While Disney has not confirmed a sequel, recent strategic moves by the company indicate that the magic of Encanto is far from over. Earlier this year, Walt Disney World Resort bid farewell to DinoLand, U.S.A. as it prepared to transform the space into Tropical Americas.

This new land is set to feature diverse attractions, including an area that will bring the enchanting world of Encanto to life for the first time. With the introduction of this immersive experience, it’s clear that Disney continues to invest in the rich universe introduced in the film, fueling speculation about potential follow-up projects.
