8 Best French Fries in Walt Disney World

Sometimes you just need to give in to the junk food craving.  And I think when you are touring around theme parks like Walt Disney World all day that craving can hit you pretty hard.  Luckily you can find lots of yummy options to satisfy, including a whole slew of delicious French Fry options.  Here are my 8 favorite dishes to satisfy my French fry craving at Walt Disney World (you may not want to read this on an empty stomach):

8. Chili Queso Fries, Golden Oak Outpost

This little outpost, literally, on the walkway from Adventureland to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom (just outside Pecos Bill) is only open seasonally, but when it is it offers up some tasty treats.  While I’m not sure I could eat these on a hot, humid Florida day, they sure are yummy.  Waffle fries smothered in chili & queso?  Sounds like Chick Fil A should take note.

7. French Fries with Pulled Pork and Cheese, Flame Tree Barbecue

Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom’s Discovery Island area is one of my favorite theme park quick service restaurants of all time.  And this tasty side item is a great way to take a break from the parks and sit down with a snack for a few minutes.  The fries here are topped with Flame Tree’s delicious smoked pork barbecue and then covered in cheese.  It is a delicious taste combination and you can’t beat the view from the seating down by the water.

6. Totchos, Woody’s Lunch Box

Okay, while tater tots are probably a different species from the French Fry (at least according to my foodie friends @kfrfoodadventures on Instagram), but I just have to include this new dish coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Woody’s Lunch Box features comfort food you would expect to find packed by mom in your school lunch (with the exception of the alcoholic beverages served at lunch & dinner).  I think one of the popular items on the menu is going to be the “Totchos.”  This version of nachos is made with “potato barrels” aka tater tots covered in chili, shredded cheese, and queso with tomatoes, corn chips, sour cream & green onion.  Sounds pretty tasty!

5. “Chips” from the Fish & Chips, Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Fish & Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in Epcot’s United Kingdom pavilion is a go-to for my husband when we eat or snack around the world.  And while I think the fish here is terrific with the light breading, the chips are also really good.  More of a thick cut fry than other Disney establishments serve, it is closer to the authentic UK fish & chips you would find in a pub.  Team it up with some malt vinegar & you are good to go!

4. House Smoked Kobe Style Brisket Poutine, Nomad Lounge

Can we talk about the amazing-ness of the Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?  Let’s not so I can keep it a secret.  This beautiful location is peaceful and a great respite from the park, and it serves up some seriously good lounge/finger foods.  Poutine is a dish traditional to Canada which features fries smothered in gravy and other yummy toppings.  At the Nomad Lounge they make their poutine with smoked Kobe Beef Brisket, house made mozzarella and pan sauce.  My mouth is watering!

3. Fries, D-Luxe Burger

No frills here.  If you are looking for just a plain old good serving of French Fries look no further than D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs.  These fresh-cut fries have a bit of the skin left on them and are fried up for your order . . . and their potato-y goodness is one of the best in all of Disney.  You can order a regular side order or a large, and they are generous so you might be able to get away with a large sharing among your family.  If you want to get fancy they offer great dipping sauces to go with them.

2. Parmesan Truffle Fries, STK Orlando

Let’s stay at Disney Springs and head over to STK for their amazing side option of Parmesan Truffle Fries.  STK is a table service restaurant, so you will want a reservation to try these out .. . unlike the other options that you could get just to snack on.  Everything on the STK menu is a la carte, so you’ll order your entrée and pick your sides to accompany it.  I really like the combination of flavors with the Parmesan Truffle fries—just the right amount of salty and savory.

1. Daily Poutine, Disney Springs

The Daily Poutine is an entire kiosk dedicated to the Canadian dish of Poutine.  By definition, Poutine is “a dish originating from the Canadian province of Quebec consisting of French fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy.”  Over at the Daily Poutine in Disney Springs you can find a few variations on this theme.  Here your Poutine is served up in cups.  You can choose the Classic Poutine (as described above), the Latin Poutine (fried yucca, black beans, pulled pork and queso fresco—technically not french fries), the Italian Poutine (French Fries, mozzarella and Bolognese sauce) or the French Poutine (French Fries, mushroom cream sauce and Gruyere).  Of these I really like the Italian version—but you owe it to yourself to try the original “classic” too.
