7 Things You Will Love About Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion in Walt Disney World

Epcot is a favorite of many guests visiting Walt Disney World since it is home to two distinct halves which come together to form a unique park. Future World highlights technology and how it is helping to shape the environment and future, and World Showcase features eleven different countries highlighting architecture, cuisine, culture, and history. One of the most popular areas in World Showcase is the Mexico Pavilion where guests can journey into an ancient pyramid, catch up with the Three Caballeros, sample traditional Mexican cuisine, and sip on tequila cocktails. With so much to enjoy in one place, it is no wonder why guests love spending time in the Mexico Pavilion. Here are seven things guests will love about Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion in Walt Disney World.

7. Plaza de los Amigos

Stepping into the ancient pyramid, guests suddenly find themselves in a sweeping outdoor courtyard at dusk. The Plaza de los Amigos is a marketplace that sells goods ranging from tequila to colorful figurines like frogs and moons. The marketplace is in a constant state of dusk as it is the traditional time that Mexican families go out to socialize and interact with neighbors and friends. No trip to the Mexico Pavilion is complete without browsing the wonderful array of goods for purchase.

6. La Cava del Tequila

Nestled into the right hand corner of the Plaza de los Amigos is La Cava del Tequila, a small tequila bar where guests can sample over two hundred varieties of the spirit. La Cava del Tequila serves up some delicious and interesting varieties of margaritas for guests to indulge in including blood orange, avocado, and jalapeno. In additional to cocktails, guests can sip on various types of tequila by ordering a flight, and even snack on small fare like chips and guacamole. Visiting La Cava del Tequila is a great way to cool off, enjoy a cocktail, and spend an afternoon in the Mexico Pavilion.

5. Meeting Donald

A great family friendly activity that guests can partake in while visiting the Mexico Pavilion is meeting Donald. Donald appears to the right hand side of the pyramid decked out in his sombrero and is always ready to pose for photos with guests and sign autographs. Donald appears in this location on and off throughout the day, so guests should always keep an eye out for him!

4. Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros

Located in the rear of the Plaza de los Amigos is the only attraction in the Mexico Pavilion. The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros begins by taking guests on a serene boat ride past an erupting volcano and into a temple ruin. Guests then find themselves on a scenic tour of Mexico guided by Panchito and Jose as they search for Donald in time for their concert that evening. Guests pass by scenes depicting the beauty and culture of Mexico along with some jokes and mayhem from the Caballeros and ultimately make it to Mexico City in time to find Donald and attend the concert.

Guests can also enjoy watching the boats from The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros drift by. Traditional Mexican cuisine is served at the San Angel Inn Restaurante for lunch and dinner and guests can choose from entrée options including Mole Poblano, Carne Asada, and Camarones a la Diabla. Every meal at San Angel Inn Restuarante is delicious and the environment and views can’t be beat.

2. The View From The Cantina

Located on the shores of World Showcase Lagoon in the Mexico Pavilion is the open air La Cantina de San Angel. At this quick service location guests can order up food options like Empanadas con Queso, Nachos, and Tacos de Barbacoa and sip on margaritas and other refreshments. The best aspect of La Cantina de San Angel is its sweeping view of World Showcase Lagoon. Guests who time it correctly can order up some drinks and dinner, score a table near the railing over the water, and enjoy a great viewing spot for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

1. Mexico Folk Art Gallery

Just inside the entrance to the massive pyramid is the Mexico Folk Art Gallery where guests can peruse several displays showcasing the culture and history of Mexico. The exhibit focuses on Oaxacan wood carvers and the beautiful creations that they fashioned throughout history. Taking a few moments to enjoy the Mexican Folk Art Gallery is a great way to spend time in the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot!
