12 Things We’d Totally Miss if Disney Didn’t Exist

12. The smells

You know how certain smells are so memorable that they can just instantly bring you back to a certain time and place? For me, the smell of popcorn instantly brings my mind to Main Street U.S.A., where I smell the popcorn from the carts and I just have to purchase one. If Disney didn’t exist, this simple memory would be ruined, and to be honest I’d probably be so turned off from popcorn that I wouldn’t even bother to have it at home anyway then.

11. Your favorite park

Everyone has a favorite park, and mine is Epcot. If Disney didn’t exist, and there was no Epcot, I’m not sure I would know what to do with my vacation time. Why would I even bother planning a trip somewhere where I can’t eat my way around the world and ride Spaceship Earth?

10. Princes and princesses

One of my favorite parts of going to Walt Disney World is seeing the princes and princesses. They are perfect examples of the classic fairytales that we all know and love, and there is nothing more exciting than seeing some of them in person. I don’t know what I would do if Disney didn’t exist, and I wasn’t able to dine with a couple of princesses on occasion.

9. Disney themed clothing

Without Walt Disney World, where would I go to show off my Figment Disneybound outfit, where I would fit in with other people who think I did an excellent job making it? Oh right, probably nowhere. Outside of Disney, you’ll find it difficult to find a place where you feel comfortable showing off your somewhat tacky yet awesome Disney clothing.

8. The rides and shows

If you’re reading this article, you more than likely have a favorite ride or show at Walt Disney World that you just can’t wait to experience in the time leading up to each trip. I’d be heartbroken if I had to live in a world where I couldn’t experience the Haunted Mansion or Spaceship Earth.

7. The ability to go on an African Safari in Florida

Kilimanjaro Safari located at Animal Kingdom is probably the closest thing that many guests will experience to a real safari in their lifetimes. Without Walt Disney World, I would probably never get to experience that kind of authentic African experience, as (at least for now) a trip to Africa for a “real” safari is far out of my budget.

6. Or to travel the world in Florida

Walt Disney World gives guests the ability to travel the world in a trip around World Showcase. This is something that cannot be experienced anywhere else, and therefore something I’d miss dearly if Disney did not exist.

5. Disney parks souvenirs

While I’m what you might be able to call a frequent shopper to the Disney store’s website, I would most certainly miss shopping in the Disney parks if the parks did not exist. One of my favorite places to go shopping is Epcot, because World Showcase allows me to buy so many items that I would only otherwise find if I visited those countries. In addition, I’ll admit that I’m addicted to pins, so not being able to go pin shopping would definitely be difficult for me.

4. Character meet and greets

If Disney did not exist where would I go to meet characters? The closest I’d get would probably be if I attended a performance of Disney on Ice, but even then, I wouldn’t have the chance to meet the characters, I’d just be seeing them at a closer distance than my TV. Disney is the only place where we can go to meet our favorite Disney characters, and things would be a lot different for Disney fans if we were unable to have those experiences.

3. Turkey legs, Dole whips, churros

Turkey legs, Dole whips, and churros, along with a whole host of other Disney snacks, would be dearly missed if Walt Disney World did not exist. Sure, I could attempt to make some of these items at home, but there’s no doubt in my mind that it wouldn’t be the same. Even if I could find another location that sells Dole whips (which I conveniently have, and it’s only about ten minutes away from my house) it wouldn’t be the same as enjoying a Dole whip while sitting in Adventureland killing time before my Pirates of the Caribbean Fastpass starts.

2. Fireworks

Disney fireworks are on a whole different level from any other fireworks I’ve ever seen. Without Disney, it would be difficult to find fireworks that are timed to music and tell a story, never mind ones that also carry the emotional ties that make Disney fireworks so special. What would the world be if we couldn’t watch Illuminations, where so many countries come together as one, or Wishes, where everyone can for once in their lives truly believe that wishes can come true.

1. Cinderella Castle

Cinderella Castle, one of the most photographed icons in the world, is probably the most recognizable castle many people can think of. So many memories have been made in front of this castle, including Wishes, Dream Along with Mickey, birthday parties, proposals, and the Kiss Goodnight, and we would totally miss it if Disney did not exist.
