Top 10 Adult Beverages in Walt Disney World

Throughout the Walt Disney World parks and resorts you can find a variety of adult beverages to enjoy (except Magic Kingdom where the selection is limited to Be Our Guest).  Some of these are unique cocktails or regional wine/beer selections, and some can be found anywhere, but maybe they taste a little better in Disney (doesn’t everything?).  For some guests enjoying adult beverages is the sole purpose of their visit—drinks around the world anyone?  Of course, we encourage you to drink responsibly and don’t try our entire top 10 list at one time.

10.  Wine

I am lumping this into one big category, but you can find some very interesting and unique wines at Walt Disney World.  A stroll through the World Showcase will invite you to try special wines from countries all over the world.  Another great wine option is a visit to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Jiko offers a Wine Tasting on Wednesdays where a sommelier presents wines from various regions of South Africa.  You can also enjoy these wines with a dinner at Jiko, and some are for sale by the bottle in the Lodge gift shop.

9.  Cotton-tini, T. Rex Café

These fun drinks are available at the T. Rex Café at Downtown Disney.  It comes in three versions:  Candy Apple Cotton-tini, Tropical Cotton-tini and Cosmo-Paleo Cotton-tini.  It is served as a martini class filled with cotton candy, then the cocktail is poured over the cotton candy and it eventually dissolves.

8.  Frozen Margarita, Mexico

The line that is always queued up at this stand just outside Mexico attests to the popularity of the frozen margarita (it’s 5:00 somewhere, right?).  I have to admit it is a great way to cool off on a hot Florida day.  The recipe is simple:  tequila and triple sec with your choice of fruit mix: Strawberry, Lime, Mango, or Fiesta (a combination of all three).

7.  Dole Whip with RUM, Epcot (Seasonal)

This treat is rolled out for Epcot’s seasonal festivals (Flower & Garden and Food & Wine).  The Refreshment Port serves up the Dole Whip with rum during the Food & Wine Festival.  You had two choices to enhance your Dole Whip:  dark rum or coconut rum.  It makes for a delicious tropical treat!

6.  Pina Colava, Multiple Locations

The Pina Colava is one of the drinks that you can find at several locations throughout the World, especially the pool bars.  It is served frozen and is a combination of Bacardi Razz rum, pina colada mix and raspberry puree.  This sweet drink is certain to take you to a tropical paradise as you lounge by your resort pool.

5.  Beer Around the World

Just like a stroll around World Showcase invites you to sip many different wines, you can also enjoy many specialty beers.  I recommend that you enjoy wine and beers on separate days.  Of course you can hit the UK and Germany for a good brew, but there are some other options in the World Showcase as well.  You will find Carlsberg in Norway, Dos Equis in Mexico, Tsing Tao in China, Birra Moretti in Italy, Kronenbourg in France, and Moosehead in Canada among others in other countries.  Take the opportunity to try something new!

4.  La Cava del Tequila Margarita

While the Frozen Margaritas from the stand are a traditional guest favorite, the margaritas served inside the pyramid of the Mexico pavilion at La Cava del Tequila are something entirely different and special.  In addition to tequila flights you can order up a specialty margarita like: avocado, blood orange, cucumber, jalapeno, or coffee mezcal.  These unique flavors and excellent crafting make it a “must do” stop for an adult beverage.

3.  Yak Attack, Yak & Yeti

This signature frozen drink is found at the Yak & Yeti in Animal Kingdom’s Asia section.  A delicious combination of frozen mango daiquiri with rum and wildberry swirls—it is fruity and refreshing while you are braving the wilds of Asia.  If you aren’t planning to dine at Yak & Yeti no worries!  You can also find this specialty drink at the quick service window “Anandupur Quality Beverages” which is around the back of Yak and Yeti past the Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes windows.

2.  Lapu Lapu, Polynesian Resort

What says vacation more than a fruity rum drink served up in a pineapple with a paper umbrella?  I’m thinking nothing.  This is the Lapu Lapu found at the Tambu Lounge in the Polynesian Resort.  It is a great place to visit on its own, or to enjoy while you wait on your table at ‘Ohana or Kona Café.

1.  TIE!  Grand Marnier Slush & Grey Goose Citron Slush, France

It is really too hard to choose between these two adult versions of a slushie to pick a single winner (although I lean toward the Grand Marnier).  If you haven’t discovered these yet you need to visit the outdoor champagne stand found in France (across the main walkway from Les Chefs de France).  The orange version is orange drink mix with Grand Marnier, and the lemon version is lemon drink mix combined with Grey Goose Citron Vodka.  And during festival times they add a third option, the Parisian Cosmo Slush.  There are two options for the standards, the regular 8oz size and a newer supersize 12oz version that comes with a shot of Grand Marnier or Grey Goose to match your slush.  Caution:  even though you will be tempted by their smooth flavor don’t drink it too fast, you run the risk of brain freeze!

There really are so many great adult beverages in Walt Disney World—what is your favorite?

Sarah Chapman

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one… More »
