10 Best Quick Eats at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom

Depending on the type of park day we want to have sometimes we enjoy just snacking around all day and finding quick bites to eat while we walk from one attraction to another or to just sit for a quick break and enjoy.  Luckily the parks at Walt Disney World have a lot of great options for just this kind of eating, and here are my top 10 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park:

10. A “Pop” from Zuri’s Sweet Shop

Located in Africa’s Harambe Village near the Harambe Market and the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safari, Zuri’s Sweet Shop has lots of tempting treats.  One of my favorite sweet treats to eat on the go are the Cake and Marshmallow pops the offer . . . I mean what is more convenient than eating food on a stick?  Here some of the favorites to look for match the setting of African:  the Zebra, Hippo or Giraffe themed Marshmallow Pops.

9. Egg Roll from Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café

I feel like Animal Kingdom Park is strong in the quick service dining category, and one of my go-to spots is the Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café.  This is located just inside Asia (conveniently along the main path) and offers walk up ordering.  The Asian inspired menu offers a side of one or two pork egg rolls.  Another easy item to eat on the go, or to consume while taking a quick break at the outside seating adjacent to the ordering area.

8. Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans, Tamu Tamu Refreshments

Talk about the perfect thing when you need a quick pick-me-up!  Stop by Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa and among the tempting sweets you’ll find Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans.  Another item that is easy to carry with you and eat as you head to your next adventure.  Oh, and they are pretty delicious too.

7. Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries Kiosk in Asia

Located in the Asia section of the park, this kiosk of an eatery offers some great grab & go items like hummus with vegetables and pita, but I encourage you to try out the seasoned fries.  You’ll probably want to grab a seat and rest for just a few minutes to enjoy these as the could get messy topped with tzatziki sauce and sriracha ketchup, but yummmm!  And I promise they will end up being a very quick bite, especially if you are sharing with your travel companions!

6. Asian Chicken Wrap, Quality Beverage in Asia

This is another could be messy, but wraps are generally easier to walk and eat than other choices.  Rather than ordering a full meal somewhere make a quick stop in Asia at Quality Beverage to order their Asian Chicken Wrap.  This is delicious and filling, but could be eaten on the go.  Or, just take that quick break and enjoy Mr. Kamal’s Fries with it!

5. Corn on the Cob, Harambe Fruit Market in Africa

Not to be confused with Harambe Market, the Harambe Fruit Market is a large cart/kiosk right in the middle of the village serving up all kids of tasty and relatively healthy snacks.  Here my vote goes to the Corn on the Cob.  But this is not your basic boiled version, this is flame-grilled, butter dipped and topped with Market Curry Spice.  MmmHmmm, it’s like African Street Corn and it is delicious.  If you can’t find it your nose may show you the way as they are grilling that corn right there at the stand—very fresh!

4. Baked Macaroni & Cheese at Eight Spoon Café

The Eight Spoon Café is located on the walkway between Discovery Island and Asia, and it is my new favorite place.  You can get the baked Mac & Cheese at Flame Tree, but this is a smaller and simpler portion.  Served in a tray you could walk and eat it or you could sit by the water in the seating behind Flame Tree BBQ and Mickey & Minnie’s Meet & Greet for a little relaxation.  The cheesy flavor is delicious and the baked texture is what I love. I get mine plain, but you also have an option topped with pulled pork or topped with shrimp and sweet chili sauce.

3. French Fries with Pulled Pork and Cheese at Flame Tree BBQ

If Mr. Kamal’s French Fries were not your speed, maybe give this side dish option at Flame Tree BBQ a try.  Where I come from anything topped with pulled pork is a win—and cheese is just the icing on the cake.  Probably a little messy to walk and eat, take these down to the water seating areas overlooking Expedition Everest for a quick snack while you plan out your next attraction, or make another FastPass for your day (assuming you’ve already used your first 3).

2. Chicken Fried Rice at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café

This is another one of my favorites at Yak & Yeti Local Foods Café.  It is a great value, and it is filling enough to serve as your meal.  They serve it up in a take out box, so it is quite portable and you could eat and walk if you are in a big hurry.

1. Pongu Lumpia, Pongu Pongu in Pandora

I definitely saved the best for last.  And ending with another sweet items . . . but this one has fruit, so it is healthy right?  Pongu Pongu is the walk up window in Pandora located just outside the larger quick service restaurant Satu’li Canteen and beside the gift shop.  Here you will find the Instagram famous Night Blossom frozen drink, along with the equally famous & delicious Pongu Lumpia.  What in the world is this?  It is a Spring Roll filled with Cream Cheese and Pineapple.  Enough said.  It is fried up fresh and you’ll need some napkins but it is definitely something you can eat and while you walk and the perfect thing to refuel after your wait and then thrilling ride on a banshee.

I am a long time Disney fan since I was hooked on Walt Disney World with my first trip in 1987. Since that time I’ve tried experiencing everything I can in the parks, with a total of 30 visits and counting (I’m always planning my next trip) to Walt Disney World—not to mention Disney Cruise Line and even (shhh!) Universal Orlando and Sea World. I’ve turned my Disney obsession into a profession helping others plan their magical vacations as a Dream Vacation Maker at LBAC Travel. I am a work at home mom to three wonderful boys, and each one… More »
