10 Best Desserts at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom

Let’s face it, one of the best things about visiting Disney World is trying all of the amazing dessert options. From ice cream to baked goods, there is a whole world of sweet treats on Disney property, and a vacation is the perfect excuse to try as many as humanly possible. Therefore, it’s important to know exactly where to find the very best desserts. In this post, we will focus on desserts in Animal Kingdom. By the time you reach the end of the article, you’ll know exactly where to go and what to order, and you might even discover that your mouth is watering just a bit.

1. Double Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwich from Tamu Tamu Refreshments

The perfect combination of chocolate and vanilla, this delicious ice cream treat is just perfect on a hot summer day. Vanilla ice cream is served between two chilled chocolate chocolate chip cookies (yes, you read that right), and the end result is a heavenly dessert. Eat it fast because it will melt quickly!

2. Dole Whip with Coconut Rum from Tamu Tamu Refreshments

Every true Disney fan has had Dole Whip before, and most people who’ve tried Dole Whip enjoy it tremendously. That said, not everyone has tried Dole Whip served over rum, and since Animal Kingdom is the only place to get this delicious adult treat, you’re gonna want to give it a try.

3. Chocolate Waffle with Vanilla Ice Cream from Tamu Tamu Refreshments

Yes, we are listing a third treat from Tamu Tamu—but you have to understand, this place is wonderful at putting out amazing sweets. This particular dessert item is a chocolate waffle cooked to the perfect crisp texture, then served with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Just as you might imagine, this is a truly incredible snack, and one you won’t find elsewhere on property.

4. South American Chocolate Ganache from Tiffins Restaurant

If you’re in the mood for an upscale dessert, head to Tiffins. This gorgeous restaurant serves up great food and beautiful desserts. Take the South America Chocolate Ganache, for instance. This dessert is small, and may even look simple despite the gorgeous presentation. That said, it’s made with the highest quality chocolate, and each and every bite should be savored fully.

5. Pongu Lumpia from Pongu Pongu

If an unusual yet yummy dessert is what you’re searching for, you might try the Pongu Lumpia. This is essentially a pineapple and cream cheese spring roll, and it’s the perfect blend of flavors and textures. Best of all, these can be eaten on the go, making them a great snack for the wait to ride Flight of Passage.

6. Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse from Satu’li Canteen

Another newer dessert from a newer eatery, the Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse is the ideal light and fresh dessert. The fruity flavor is just wonderful, and the passion fruit curd on top of the dessert really helps this treat stand out. Make sure to grab a photo before you dig in because this is definitely a pretty dessert.

7. Banana Bread Pudding from Tusker House Restaurant

Tusker House Restaurant is like a loyal friend: It’s always there when you need it. This is true for all of their food, but especially their dessert selection. We love all of the sweets served up at this buffet, but our absolute favorite is the Banana Bread Pudding. This is some seriously good bread pudding, so make a point of grabbing some!

8. Mini Mango Pie from Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes

Mango pie is, in general, a delicious dessert option. This is why we love, love, love the mango pie served at the Yak and Yeti table-service restaurant. In fact, there is only one mango dessert we love more, and that’s the Mini Mango Pie from the quick-service location, Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafes. The crust-to-filling ratio in these tiny pies is perfect, and the flavors couldn’t mix any more wonderfully.

9. Fried Wontons from Yak and Yeti

That said, there are a few desserts at Yak and Yeti that don’t have better versions elsewhere. The fried wontons are one of those desserts. These morsels of goodness are simply wontons filled with sweetened cream cheese, deep-fried, and put on a skewer with pieces of pineapple. Despite its overall simplicity, this combination is amazing, and the sweet sauce added at the end only makes the kabobs even more irresistible.

10. Pineapple Upside-Down Cake from Yak and Yeti

Another amazing dessert from Yak and Yeti Restaurant is the pineapple upside-down cake. This is a fairly classic dessert, and the restaurant doesn’t do much to change it up. What it does do is prepare and present the cake in a wonderful way that brings out the best in the simple dessert.

Be sure to try some of these desserts on your next trip to Animal Kingdom. We are certain you’ll love them—and with so many to choose from, you won’t get bored anytime soon!
