Earlier this year, Tokyo Disneyland closed its version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blaster to be replaced by a new Wreck-It Ralph attraction. When Disney announced details of the new Attraction, it immediately sounded like something that could spread to the rest of the Disney parks.

According to Disney, the new Wreck-It Ralph ride will run on the same mechanics as Buzz Lightyear’s, but guests will join Ralph and Vanellope as they try to restore a Sugar Bug to its original state.
The goal of the new Tokyo Disneyland attraction is to hit each Sugar Bug and return them to their cake or candy form. From the description, it sounds incredibly similar to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, but with candy replacing Emperor Zurg.
However, this doesn’t feel like the end for Wreck-It Ralph as a Disney park. A new rumor has emerged that this change could also happen in the Magic Kingdom.

With Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Buzz Lightyear attraction at the Magic Kingdom seems slightly out of place. Buzz already has a meet-and-greet at Hollywood Studios and a second at the Magic Kingdom.
Closing the Buzz Lightyear Tomorrowland ride and replacing it with a new attraction seems like destiny, but would all Disney fans agree with the company’s move?
A new Wreck-It Ralph attraction at Disney World would make some sense, as the popular film does not currently have a place in the parks, but is it necessary to get rid of the only solo Buzz Lightyear attraction at the parks?

A vast open space directly across from Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin could work for any new attraction. The former home of Alien Encounter and Stitch’s Great Escape has sat empty for more than four years now.
When The Walt Disney Company made its significant announcements for the future of the Magic Kingdom, updates to Tomorrowland were not a part of that plan. Disney is completely reimagining Frontierland by closing Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island and replacing them with a new Cars Land.
Disney also announced that a new Villains Land would be coming to the Magic Kingdom, but they did not give details about its possible location.
Given that Disney did not announce any significant changes to Tomorrowland at the D23 Expo, Disney fans can expect Buzz Lightyear to stay put for the foreseeable future. Stitch’s Great Escape will also remain empty.
