Outside the Disney BubbleParks

Why Families Should Ditch Disney World This Summer for This Instead

Walt Disney World gets the headlines. It gets the crowds, the Instagram posts, the vacation budgets, and the conversation. That is just the reality of being the most visited theme park on the planet. But this summer, a small park about 45 minutes down the road is quietly putting together something that a very specific group of Florida families is going to love more than anything Disney has on offer right now.

Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida is located in Winter Haven, just down the road from LEGOLAND Florida, and has built a reputation over the last few years as the best theme park option in Central Florida for families with preschool-aged children. Not the biggest. Not the most thrilling. The best, for that age group, full stop.

This summer it is launching an event that makes that case even harder to argue with.

What Is Happening This Summer

Starting Memorial Day weekend, the park is debuting a brand new seasonal event called Pig Family Travel Adventure. It runs on select dates from May 23 through June 28 and is built around Peppa Pig, George, Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig, and baby Evie heading off on their very first family vacation together as a family of five.

The whole thing is included with regular park admission and annual passes. No upcharge. No separate ticket. Just show up and it is part of the day.

How It Works

Every child gets their own Pig Family Travel Adventure passport upon arrival. That passport guides them through a series of country-themed activity stations set up around the park. At each stop, kids complete a hands-on activity, collect a stamp, and move on to the next destination. Families who complete every station walk away with a special-edition pop badge, while supplies last.

The destinations are genuinely fun. Australia has coral reefs where you can find sea animals. China lets kids build their own version of the Great Wall using giant foam blocks. France has a family portrait activity. The South Pole challenges little ones to dress Peppa and her family for cold weather. The USA station has families working together on a puzzle inspired by American landmarks.

On top of the passport activities, there is a park-wide scavenger hunt to help the Pig family pack for their trip, a photo opportunity aboard Miss Rabbit’s airplane, and character meet and greets with Peppa and her family throughout the day.

The Amazon Weekend

Guests who visit on June 20 or 21 get something extra. Amazon is sponsoring a special pop-up on those two dates with giveaways, interactive displays, and exclusive offers. If families have flexibility in their schedule, those dates are worth prioritizing.

Why This Works So Well for Summer

Most theme parks in Central Florida are built for everyone, which means they are not built specifically for a three-year-old. Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida does not have that problem. The rides, activities, characters, and events are all designed for the exact age group that finds Disney World overwhelming and Universal Orlando Resort completely out of reach.

Pig Family Travel Adventure leans into that strength. A passport activity that a five-year-old can actually complete. Foam blocks instead of roller coasters. Stamps and badges instead of FastPasses and lightning lanes. It is a theme park day that a preschooler can own from start to finish, and that is genuinely rare.

Event dates are May 23, 24, 25, 30, and 31, followed by June 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28. The park sits in Winter Haven, about 45 minutes from Walt Disney World. Everything is included with admission.

For families with little ones this summer, this might be the easiest decision in Central Florida.
