While We Thought This Beloved Magic Kingdom Attraction Was Lost Forever, Disney Brought It Back From the Dead

When it comes to Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom is the hub for all things quintessential Disney.

Magic Kingdom is home to the best parades, the best nighttime displays of fireworks over Cinderella Castle, and the most classic experiences.

However, even classic attractions can change if the retheme from Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is anything to go by. As it turns out, even an attraction such as the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, or Pirates of the Caribbean may not be safe.

But no Disney experience is more temporary than a Disney character meet-and-greet.

Character interactions are some of the most memorable things you can do at a Disney Park, but they’re also the most fleeting. Factors such as costume upkeep and character popularity are essential when it comes to the availability of meet-and-greet opportunities.

Recently, the community of Walt Disney World fans found themselves mourning the Merida meet-and-greet opportunity, believing it had closed to make room for another character meet-and-greet.

It’s no secret that the Meet Merida at Fairy Tale Garden experience was being replaced with a Mirabel meet-and-greet opportunity. But as it turns out, Merida hasn’t been banished, only relocated!

As it turns out, Merida is now greeting Guests in a Liberty Square gazebo instead of her usual Fairy Tale Garden area.

Currently, the Fairy Tale Garden area is being renovated as Walt Disney Imagineering creates the perfect backdrop for Mirabel, the main character from Encanto (2021).

As for Merida, we’re unsure if the daring Disney princess will receive a new permanent location, but we’re happy to report she’s still here to stay.
