The Disney Parks blog jumped online today to celebrate the 28th anniversary of Disney’s Wedding Pavilion located at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on Walt Disney World property! Korri McFann, Brand Steward from Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons/Custom Celebrations, decided to share five “little-known” facts about the magical spot, but I have a feeling that you true romantics out there already have done your research.
Let me know, are these details about Disney’s Wedding Pavilion old news for you? Or are you adding to your Disney fact archive?
The 5 Wedding Pavilion Facts Disney Thinks you don’t Already Know
1 – Disney Imagineers installed a window to specifically magnify the view of Cinderella Castle.
The Grand Floridan Resort & Spa is located on the Magic Kingdom section of Walt Disney World’s Resort property, which means that you not only are close to the park, but you can actually spot Cinderella Castle from your window! Well, Disney Imagineers, the hopeless romantics that they are, decided that wasn’t good enough! So, they designed a window in the Wedding Pavilion that could actually magnify Cinderella Castle. McFann calls it “the dreamiest view of Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle.”
2 – It’s located on its own private Island! Bridge access only.
Magic Kingdom theme park’s Cinderella Castle offered even more inspiration during the construction of Disney’s Wedding Pavilion – including where they decided to build it. Of course, a magical view of the castle was the priority, so, the team actually constructed an island for that purpose! The pavilion is built on the water and oriented accordingly. It can only be accessed across a cute little romantic bridge.
3 – Bathroom mirrors look like old time-y clocks that never strike midnight.
Disney’s Wedding Pavilion continues on with its Cinderella fairy tale theming, but this time focusses on the Disney Princess’ famous deadline. The bathroom mirrors inside the pavilion are designed after the face of old time-y clocks with roman numerals. But don’t worry! Apparently they never strike midnight, so that the magic of the big day never has to end. No pumpkins to worry about here!
4 – Hidden Mickeys galore!
Disney’s Wedding Pavilion boasts a few hidden Mickey head silhouettes “throughout the intricate architectural detailing.” This is an amazingly fun detail for Guests to explore as they wait for the couple’s big entrance! Do we think looking for these would add to the stress of your big day? Or would it be a nice whimsical distraction from all the chaos?
5 – There are suites to hide the couple and their party from arriving wedding Guests.
McFann notes that Disney’s Wedding Pavilion has three suites for the couple and their wedding party with private bathrooms, mirrors, and water stations. I wouldn’t really call this a fun fact per se, but rather a bit of a necessity for a venue of this nature. Of course the bride and groom need a space away from Guests before everything begins! But still, these rooms are bound to be more magical than most.
So were you surprised, or more like, “Psh, please…tell me something I don’t know.”
