Disney Parks Pirates of the Caribbean attraction can be found at five of Disney’s theme parks around the world: Disneyland Park, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland. Though each version of the attraction varies somewhat from its counterparts, the premise of the ride is the same.

Of all of the Disney Parks attractions, the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction was the first ride to have come before the film/film series with the same name. In other words, the Pirates ride is one of the only Disney Parks ride to have inspired the film series, whereas other attractions are largely inspired by the film that preceded their development.

In recent years, other attractions, like Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise attraction, have inspired films as well.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Film Gets the Most Epic Promo

In 2017, in celebration of the soon-to-be-released fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film, titled Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disneyland Resort welcomed actor Johnny Depp to the park.

His role was one he was well-versed in playing: that of the often-inebriated, always-verbose Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp stepped into the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and waited for unsuspecting guests aboard the attraction to arrive at one of the scenes in the ride, where instead of taking in the sights and the sounds of the sets and the animatronics, they would instead be shocked, surprised, and thrilled by the very one who breathed life into the character of the often-inebriated, always-verbose captain of the Black Pearl–right there in front of them!

The response was overwhelming, and the reactions from guests were priceless. The video below shows only a couple of minutes of the exciting event that took place in early 2017, but we dare you Johnny Depp and Captain Jack Sparrow fans not to stand up and cheer as you watch Depp embody Sparrow in every way, in every detail, and in every interaction with guests aboard the ride.

At the end of the evening’s event, Johnny Depp, clad as Captain Jack Sparrow, appeared before a crowd of countless numbers of guests who gathered in front of the structure that houses the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland Park.

Depp stepped through the double doors onto the balcony above the sign for the attraction, and the crowd screamed, cheered, clapped, and yelled. Then, as guests continued cheering, Depp, in his best Captain Jack voice, called out to the crowd, saying, “I want you all to know that today is the day that you almost captured Captain Jack Sparrow!”

Immediately following Depp’s words, an unscripted part of the event took place, during which the famed actor was accidentally locked out of the attraction building. When he attempted to open the double doors on the balcony, he discovered that the doors were locked, which only added to the crowd’s delight.

Just imagine having several more moments to take in the experience of seeing the “real” Captain Jack Sparrow, embodied by none other than Johnny Depp!

It was certainly the most epic film promotional event this writer can imagine!
