The Wizarding World Grows: Warner Bros. Announces New ‘Harry Potter’ Content

Harry Potter fans, brace yourselves—there’s more magic coming your way.

The Harry Potter franchise has had its fair share of highs and lows over the past few years.

On one hand, the Fantastic Beasts spinoff series, which promised to explore the Wizarding World several decades before Harry started Hogwarts, faltered after three out of its five planned films. A string of controversies, including the casting (and recasting) of Johnny Depp, ultimately derailed the series.

Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter video game, defied the odds by breaking multiple records upon its release, despite calls for a boycott due to creator J.K. Rowling’s controversial statements.

Rowling’s views on gender identity and the transgender community have been at the center of the backlash. The controversy began when she liked a tweet referring to trans women as “men in dresses.” Though her spokesperson initially claimed it was a mistake, Rowling has continued to voice opinions that many find offensive.

This has caused a significant divide in the fandom, as the author’s remarks on gender and transgender issues have sparked outrage. In one of her most contentious statements, Rowling compared trans people to Death Eaters and misgendered prominent transgender individuals in a post on social media where she also listed them alongside convicted sexual offenders.

Despite the controversy surrounding the author, several of the original Harry Potter stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have publicly voiced their support for the transgender community. While rumors of a Cursed Child movie adaptation continue to swirl, the strained relationship between the cast and Rowling makes it unlikely.

New Harry Potter projects

In a bid to move forward, Warner Bros. has taken the bold step of rebooting the Harry Potter franchise entirely. The studio is reportedly planning a new series based on the Harry Potter books, with each novel being adapted into a full season for HBO. Filming for the series is expected to begin in the UK this summer.

But that’s not the only exciting project on the horizon. While official announcements remain scarce, there’s buzz about additional Harry Potter content in the works.

Among the most popular theories is that we may finally get a Marauders series, which would delve into the backstory of James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew during their time at Hogwarts. (We can dream, okay?)

Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking Receives Renewal

One new project that has been confirmed is the second season of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking on the Food Network.

Hosted by James and Oliver Phelps—who portrayed Fred and George Weasley in the original films—this baking competition show features professional chefs crafting magical dishes inspired by the Harry Potter universe.

The show’s first season was a hit, attracting millions of viewers across linear TV and streaming platforms. News of its second season was confirmed by Deadline.

In addition to the Phelps brothers, the show has featured appearances from other beloved Harry Potter cast members, including Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley). Culinary experts Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef served as judges, offering their expertise as bakers competed on iconic sets like Hogwarts’ Great Hall.

The first season of Wizards of Baking was well-received by fans, many of whom expressed their love for the show on social media. One viewer praised the Phelps brothers, saying, “James and Oliver were great hosts. I personally don’t have a clue what they’ve been doing since Potter ended, but someone should scoop them up to host more shows.”

Another fan wrote, “I’ve been a big Harry Potter fan since the beginning and thought they did a good job integrating the books while also focusing on the baking. Oliver and James did a great job as hosts. I would love to see more of them.”

With these new developments, it’s clear that the Wizarding World is far from finished, and fans can look forward to even more magical content in the years ahead. Whether it’s a rebooted series, new spin-offs, or baking competitions, the legacy of Harry Potter continues to grow.
