When Guests think about the Walt Disney World Resort, they immediately picture iconic and popular attractions like “it’s a small world,” the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan’s Flight, Spaceship Earth, Soarin’ Around the World, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and more.
While there is no shortage of popular attractions that Guests consider must-dos, there are also a handful of attractions and experiences that tend to be overlooked and can definitely be considered underrated. While many Guests tend to walk right past, be sure to check out these underrated and amazing attractions on any visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
Walt Disney World Railroad
The first attraction that Guests encounter when entering Magic Kingdom is the Walt Disney World Railroad which has stations on Main Street, U.S.A., in Storybook Circus, and Frontierland. Guests should absolutely climb aboard one of four beautifully restored steam trains to enjoy a scenic and relaxing full circle tour that offers up beautiful views of the Disney Park while also serving as a useful mode of transportation to cut out some walking.
While the railroad has been closed for a while now, we’re hopeful about its reopening soon!
Swiss Family Treehouse
Over in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom is the Swiss Family Treehouse, a very often overlooked and underrated attraction that offers up some of the best views in the Disney Park. The Swiss Family Treehouse invites Guests to explore the home that the Robinson family created after being shipwrecked, and each room cleverly uses items salvaged from the ship as well as the island. There is some stair climbing involved to reach the very top of the tree, but the views are absolutely worth every step.
Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Also found in Adventureland is Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, a fun and energetic show where Guests sit in a circle in the round and are entertained from above by a unique cast of birds, flowers, tikis, and more. Featuring classic songs like “The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room” by the Sherman Brothers and loveable characters including Jose, Pierre, Michael, and Fritz, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room is an entertaining experience that also offers up the chance for Guests to relax in air conditioning for a few.
Tom Sawyer Island
One of the most underrated areas of the Magic Kingdom is Tom Sawyer Island which can be found in the heart of Frontierland and can only be reached by charming rafts that embark back and forth across the Rivers of America. Guests who make the journey to Tom Sawyer Island can explore caves, suspended bridges, Fort Langhorn, and winding pathways that feel as though they are miles away from the middle of the Magic Kingdom. Tom Sawyer Island also offers up some of the most unique and beautiful views of Frontierland, Liberty Square, and the Rivers of America that Guests are sure to love.
Country Bear Jamboree
Found not far from where the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island launch is the Country Bear Jamboree, an entertaining and fun-filled show that many Guests overlook. Guests are welcomed into Grizzly Hall, where a huge cast of loveable bears perform country hits that will have everyone stomping and clapping along. With favorite characters including the hilarious Big Al, the Country Bear Jamboree is an underrated attraction that shouldn’t be missed.
The Hall of Presidents
Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom is mainly known as the home of the Haunted Mansion, but Guests can also find The Hall of Presidents there and enjoy an underrated historical presentation that looks at the history of the Presidential office. Featuring an introduction that shares how the Oval Office came to be, the dramatic experience then features every president standing together on stage as one before the sitting president delivers a short speech. The Hall of Presidents is a patriotic and entertaining presentation that Guests should definitely enjoy at least once.
Mickey’s PhilharMagic
Mickey’s PhilharMagic in the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland is a fun experience that many Guests tend to overlook in favor of other nearby attractions like Peter Pan’s Flight. This musical experience features a massive 3D screen where Guests can watch Donald be thrown into the middle of favorite musical numbers like “Be Our Guest,” “Part of Your World,” and “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” with lots of fun and humor along the way.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
A relaxing and fun attraction in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover which can be found high above the walkways. This highway in the sky offers Guests the chance to enjoy a scenic tour of the area with beautiful sights and also special glimpses into nearby attractions like Space Mountain. With the chance to relax for a few and take in some wonderful views of Tomorrowland and Cinderella Castle, Guests should not miss out on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress
Also found in Tomorrowland is an underrated attraction that dates all the way back to the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress invites Guests to sit in an innovative theater that rotates around central stages where one family can be followed throughout the century. Each scene showcases new and modern technologies for the time period, and the loveable characters invite Guests to sing along to the favorite “There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” in this must-do attraction.
Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor
The final underrated attraction in the Magic Kingdom is Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor in Tomorrowland, where Mike Wazowski and friends can be found performing stand-up comedy to help collect power for their city. With impressive technology that uses live interaction between the audience and cartoon monsters, the show is unique every single time and will always be remembered for “That Guy.”
Living with the Land
EPCOT’s World Nature is home to The Land Pavilion, where Guests can enjoy the popular Soarin’ Around the World as well as the underrated Living with the Land. This calming boat ride brings Guests through various environments and stunning greenhouses to showcase how the land is both diverse and beautiful. With innovative growing techniques and sustainable practices that Guests can apply to their home gardens, Living with the Land is the perfect combination of entertaining and educational.
Turtle Talk with Crush
The Seas with Nemo and Friends Pavilion invites Guests to dive into the seas and is home to the underrated Turtle Talk with Crush, where Guests have the opportunity to interact in real time with everyone’s favorite turtle. Crush appears on the other side of a massive window and loves to talk with Guests and answer their questions in his own unique way, which often leads to some hilarious and unforgettable moments!
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros
The Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase is a favorite of many Guests thanks to its beautiful theming and popular dining locations, but it is also home to the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros. This underrated attraction brings Guests on a whirlwind tour of Mexico with Panchito and Jose as they search for Donald before a performance that evening. With wonderful scenes that showcase the beauty and culture of Mexico and lots of humor from the Three Caballeros, this boat ride should not be missed!
Impressions de France
Across World Showcase in the France Pavilion is the underrated Impressions de France, a charming and beautiful show where Guests can tour some of the most historic and wonderful sights of France. Featuring a score of classical French composers and special widescreen projections, this film will make Guests feel as though they are halfway across the world enjoying the splendors of France and not actually in the heart of EPCOT.
Muppet Vision 3D
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to some of the most popular and thrilling attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort, but Muppet Vision 3D in the Grand Avenue area of the Disney Park can definitely be considered underrated. This hilarious attraction features a 3D extravaganza where Kermit and friends get into all sorts of wacky situations, including an epic finale with lots of chaos. With big laughs and a huge ending, Muppet Vision 3D definitely shouldn’t be missed.
It’s Tough to be a Bug
Every Guest who visits Disney’s Animal Kingdom knows the iconic Tree of Life, but many miss out on the underrated experience found within the tree’s roots. It’s Tough to be a Bug is a 3D show where Flik from A Bug’s Life showcases how bugs are actually beneficial to humans in so many ways. With over-the-top musical numbers and some hilarious characters and moments along the way, this fun 3D show is a must on any visit to the Disney Park.
Maharajah Jungle Trek
One of the most serene locations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be found in the Asia area of the Disney Park by the exit of Kali River Rapids and invites Guests to wander through ancient temple ruins on a self-guided walking tour. The Maharajah Jungle Trek brings Guests into the Anandapur Royal Forest, where many different species can be found, including Asian tigers, and Guests will feel as though they are across the globe as they wander through lush pathways and habitats.
Conservation Station
The final underrated attraction that Guests can’t miss out on at the Walt Disney World Resort is the Conservation Station in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which can only be reached by taking a ride on the Wildlife Express. The Conservation Station features a variety of experiences for Guests to enjoy, including exclusive views into veterinary treatment rooms, animal nutrition rooms, and laboratories where the Disney Park’s care team are hard at work. It’s a quiet and calm location that offers up some unique glimpses into just what it takes to keep Disney’s Animal Kingdom running smoothly.
