A day at Walt Disney World usually comes with plenty of planning. Guests think about ride strategies, dining reservations, Lightning Lane selections, and nighttime entertainment. Today, however, there may be something even more important to plan around: the weather.

Central Florida is under a Heat Advisory on June 18, with conditions expected to feel as hot as 110 degrees during the afternoon hours. The advisory includes Orange and Osceola counties, meaning all four Walt Disney World theme parks are directly affected.
While Florida summers are known for intense heat, today’s forecast stands out even among the state’s typically warm June weather.
For Disney guests, the challenge isn’t simply the temperature itself. It’s the combination of heat, humidity, and the amount of time many visitors spend outdoors. A typical day at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom can involve several miles of walking, long stretches in outdoor queues, and extended exposure to the sun.

By midday, surfaces throughout the parks can become noticeably hotter than the surrounding air. Pavement, concrete walkways, and uncovered queue areas often make conditions feel even more uncomfortable.
Many experienced Disney visitors adjust their plans when temperatures climb this high. Instead of rushing from attraction to attraction, they build cooling breaks into their schedules. Indoor shows, table-service meals, resort visits, and air-conditioned attractions become valuable opportunities to recharge before heading back outside.
Hydration also becomes a major priority.
Fortunately, Disney guests have access to complimentary cups of ice water at quick-service dining locations throughout the resort. It’s a simple perk that can make a significant difference during extreme heat events.
Guests should also pay attention to warning signs that their bodies may be struggling with the weather. Fatigue, headaches, dizziness, and nausea can all signal heat-related issues that should not be ignored.
Adding another wrinkle to today’s forecast, Central Florida is also expected to see afternoon thunderstorms. Lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds may develop later in the day, potentially causing temporary closures of outdoor attractions.

The storms may provide some relief from the heat, but they can also create crowd shifts as guests seek shelter indoors.
Looking ahead, relief may not arrive immediately. Forecasts suggest the heat will continue through the end of the week, with Friday potentially bringing even more intense conditions.

For anyone visiting Walt Disney World today, the parks remain open and operational. However, this may be one of those vacation days where slowing down, taking breaks, and staying hydrated become just as important as securing a spot in line for the latest attraction.
Sometimes the biggest challenge at Disney isn’t the crowds or the wait times. Sometimes it’s simply the Florida weather.
