Planning a Walt Disney World vacation often comes down to timing. Guests decide when to ride attractions, when to find a spot for entertainment and even when they want to eat.
Disney’s own technology is supposed to make some of those decisions easier.
But a strange issue reported at Magic Kingdom is doing the opposite.

Guests using Mobile Order during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party could potentially discover that Disney has prepared their food well before the time they actually selected.
That’s exactly what reportedly happened during one recent visit, and it occurred more than once.
Disney World Guests Encounter an Unexpected Mobile Order Problem
Mobile Order has become a convenient option for guests who don’t want to spend valuable park time standing in line to order food.
The process is fairly straightforward.
Guests use My Disney Experience to select a restaurant, choose their food and pick an available arrival window. Once they reach the restaurant, they normally tell Disney through the app that they’ve arrived. They then receive another notification when the meal is ready for pickup.
In theory, that allows guests to plan the rest of their day around the selected window.
Things reportedly worked differently during a recent Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Disney Food Blog reported receiving a notification that its Mobile Order was ready before the selected pickup window had begun. The outlet hadn’t even told the app that it had arrived at the restaurant yet.
Then it happened again.
Both times, the food had actually been prepared early rather than the app simply sending the wrong notification.
That left the guests with food waiting for them when they weren’t necessarily anywhere near the restaurant.
A Small “Glitch” Can Create a Bigger Vacation Headache
On the surface, receiving food early sounds better than receiving it late.
The problem is that Walt Disney World guests often select Mobile Order windows for a reason.
That’s especially true at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

The event takes place at Magic Kingdom on select nights through October 31 and features special food and drinks alongside its other Halloween offerings.
Guests attending the party may already have a packed schedule before they ever place a food order.
If you’re on the opposite side of Magic Kingdom when your meal unexpectedly becomes ready, you may have to choose between abandoning your current plans or leaving the food waiting.
That’s exactly the type of decision Mobile Order is supposed to help guests avoid.
A selected arrival window allows visitors to plan ahead instead of constantly checking whether they have enough time to eat.
When that window isn’t followed, those plans can unravel.
Guests Shouldn’t Assume This Will Happen Every Time
There are still plenty of questions about what caused the problem.
Most importantly, there’s currently no evidence in the supplied report that every Mobile Order during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is being affected.
Disney Food Blog acknowledged that it didn’t know whether the issue was specific to the particular party it attended or something that could continue during other event nights.
That distinction matters.

This shouldn’t be treated as confirmation of a resort-wide Mobile Order failure. Based on the available information, it’s an unusual problem that happened twice during one Halloween party visit.
Even so, upcoming guests may want to be prepared.
If you’re planning to use Mobile Order, watch your notifications after submitting the purchase rather than assuming nothing will happen until the selected window.
It may also help to avoid placing an order too far ahead if you expect to be on the opposite side of Magic Kingdom.
My Disney Experience Can Make or Break a Carefully Planned Day
Technology now plays a huge role in how guests experience Walt Disney World.
That can be incredibly convenient. Mobile Order lets visitors arrange meals without spending as much time standing in a traditional ordering line.
But the more guests depend on Disney’s digital systems, the more noticeable problems become when those systems behave differently than expected.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party makes that especially apparent because guests can’t simply extend the event when something takes longer than planned.

Once the party is over, that night’s opportunity is gone.
For now, guests don’t need to panic or abandon Mobile Order. The available report doesn’t establish that this is happening consistently across Magic Kingdom.
But it does give Halloween party visitors another reason to keep their phones nearby.
If this unusual Mobile Order behavior continues, your carefully scheduled Disney World dinner could end up waiting for you before you’re ready for it.
