A huge change is coming to Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter in California and Florida, and most Guests will find it’s truly magical!
One of the most potent intellectual properties at Universal Studios Resorts is, of course, the Harry Potter franchise based upon the extremely popular Warner Bros. Studios films released in the early to mid-2000s. Of course, many theme park fans even note that Universal’s skyrocketing attendance once the first themed land opened influenced later Disney decisions surrounding projects such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Avengers Campus.

The first Wizarding World of Harry Potter experience opened to Guests at the Universal Orlando Resort in 2010, and with it, the Park introduced a real-world version of the franchise’s popular magical drink, Butterbeer. Since then, as noted by Attractions Magazine, Disney versions trying to capitalize on the signature drink success have arisen, such as LeFou’s Brew at Gaston’s Tavern in Walt Disney World and Batuu’s Blue and Green Milk.
Though in the globally famous book series penned by controversial author and self-proclaimed “Trans Exclusive Radical Feminist,” J.K. Rowling, it’s less clear if the beverage is intended to be as alcoholic as Fire Whiskey, given that it’s sold in wizard pubs, the theme park version is non-alcoholic. Universal Guests on both coasts can enjoy the butterscotch-flavored soda with a classic sweet white foam within the Wizarding World portions of the Parks at the Three Broomsticks in both Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando’s Islands of Adventure’s Hogsmeade locations.

Moreover, Universal Studios Florida visitors can find it at Diagon Alley’s Leaky Cauldron, and starting today, all visitors at both Resorts can order it in a brand-new way: vegan (So this change is significant… if you don’t consume milk products or have an allergy). Finally, after years of plant-based consumers asking for a non-dairy version of the beloved beverage, Universal has delivered vegan Butterbeer, which tastes and looks exactly the same as the original.
In fact, vegan Butterbeer is available at all the same locations, served both cold or frozen, just like its cream-based counterpart. Furthermore, that’s not the only significant change coming to the Wizarding World, as Universal has allegedly filed patents for two new Florida attractions in the space!
