Another piece of Universal Studios Florida history is about to disappear.
Animal Actors on Location! will permanently close on November 2, 2026, ending a run that dates all the way back to the park’s earliest days.
Universal has also confirmed that the theater isn’t simply being abandoned. The closure will make room for a future experience, although the company isn’t revealing what will take over the location just yet.
That makes this more than the retirement of an aging attraction. Universal Studios Florida is preparing for another change, and one of its few remaining opening-day experiences is being sacrificed to make it happen.
More Than Three Decades at Universal
Animal Actors on Location! can trace its history back to June 7, 1990.
It originally opened as Animal Actors Stage before becoming Animal Planet Live in 2001. Universal changed the name again in 2006, creating the Animal Actors on Location! version guests know today.
Through all those changes, the attraction managed to survive while many other pieces of the original Universal Studios Florida disappeared.
That’s what makes this closure particularly notable.
Animal Actors is one of just three remaining attractions that debuted with Universal Studios Florida. E.T. Adventure and Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show are the others, though the latter has undergone several changes over its lengthy history.
Once Animal Actors closes, Universal Studios Florida will have even fewer physical connections to the park guests experienced in 1990.
The Area Around Animal Actors Has Already Changed
Universal’s decision also comes after a major transformation of the surrounding section of the park.
Animal Actors was previously associated with Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone, an area that has largely disappeared.
Universal replaced much of KidZone with DreamWorks Land in 2024. Animal Actors survived that transformation, continuing to operate even as the area around it took on a completely different identity.
Now, the show’s time has finally come.
Universal has confirmed that Animal Actors will make way for a future experience, but that’s about as specific as the company has gotten.
There are some obvious possibilities.
The location could potentially become another addition to DreamWorks Land. Its placement could also allow Universal to create something connected to Hollywood or even the neighboring Springfield area.
At this point, however, Universal hasn’t confirmed any of those possibilities.
Universal Isn’t Done Changing Its Original Park
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from this announcement is that Universal Studios Florida continues to evolve.
Epic Universe may now be open, but Universal clearly isn’t treating its newest theme park as the end of its Orlando expansion.
Its original park is still changing.
Animal Actors isn’t the kind of attraction that dominates vacation planning or regularly generates enormous waits. But it represents something increasingly difficult to find at Universal Studios Florida: a direct connection to opening day.
For 36 years, the show survived changing trends and massive transformations around the resort.
That streak will end in November.
Guests who want one final opportunity to experience Animal Actors on Location! have until November 2. After that, the curtain will come down permanently.
What comes next remains a mystery.
Universal has promised additional details about the future of the space at a later date, meaning the closure is only the beginning of this story.
For longtime Universal fans, however, November 2 will mark the end of another chapter in Universal Studios Florida history.
