For months, guests visiting Universal Islands of Adventure were greeted by an unusual sight in Hogsmeade. Instead of the familiar silhouette of Hogwarts Castle standing proudly above the village, large sections of the iconic structure were hidden behind scaffolding and construction materials.
Now, that project has officially wrapped up.

Universal has completed its extensive refurbishment of Hogwarts Castle, restoring one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of Orlando theme parks. The work focused primarily on refreshing the exterior of the massive structure, which serves as both the visual centerpiece of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the home of Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
The project began earlier this year as crews worked their way across the castle’s towering spires and stone facades. While many guests initially worried that the attraction itself could face a lengthy closure, Universal managed to keep Forbidden Journey operating throughout the entire refurbishment.

That meant visitors could still step inside Hogwarts, walk through the famous queue, and experience one of Universal’s most popular attractions even while construction continued outside.
As the months passed, more and more of the castle began reappearing. Guests started noticing sections of scaffolding disappearing from the upper towers, giving everyone a glimpse of the newly restored exterior.

One of the final updates came from theme park photographer @bioreconstruct, who shared photos showing crews putting the finishing touches on the project.
“Final detail work on Hogwarts Castle towers. Scaffolding removed from other towers.”
The images quickly spread among theme park fans eager to see the project reach completion.
Now, all major scaffolding has been removed, allowing Hogwarts Castle to once again dominate the skyline above Hogsmeade.
While some guests may have found the construction frustrating, projects like this play an important role in preserving the immersive environments that make Universal’s parks so popular. Florida’s weather can be tough on themed structures, with intense sunlight, rain, humidity, and storms constantly taking their toll.

Without regular maintenance, even the most impressive attractions can begin showing their age.
Instead, Universal chose to invest in refreshing one of its most beloved icons before those issues became noticeable to most guests.

The timing is particularly welcome as Universal continues experiencing strong attendance across its parks. With Hogwarts looking refreshed and photo-ready again, visitors can enjoy the full Wizarding World experience without construction walls getting in the way.
For Harry Potter fans, it is a simple update that makes a big difference. After months of work, Hogwarts Castle is finally back where it belongs—at the center of the magic.
