Universal may be preparing its next major move for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
New evidence suggests Harry Potter could be among the franchises heading to Universal’s enormous new theme park in Bedfordshire, England.
Theme park reporter Alicia Stella (via Orlando ParkStop) highlighted a listing found in PCL Construction’s HammerTech project management system. The page was titled “Project 1307 UUKR WWoHP,” initials that seemingly point toward Universal United Kingdom Resort and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The connection is particularly notable because PCL has an extensive history with Universal’s Harry Potter attractions.
PCL says its teams worked on the original Orlando Wizarding World, including themed elements throughout Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, and the queue for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Its themed fabrication work has also extended to Wizarding World projects in Japan, Hollywood, and Beijing.
The Bedford listing did not remain online for long – according to Stella, references to “UUKR WWoHP” were removed from the listing before the entire page was taken out of public view. That has fueled speculation, although the deletion itself does not prove that Harry Potter is confirmed for the park.
PCL is also absent from a recently published list of contractors working on the resort, something Stella noted could mean its involvement is limited or advisory. Universal has still not announced any specific intellectual properties for the park.
Rumors have nevertheless repeatedly connected the project with Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. For now, those details remain unconfirmed.
Work began on the Bedford site earlier this year, with Universal United Kingdom Resort scheduled to open in 2031. The British government says Comcast NBCUniversal plans to invest more than £5 billion during construction, with another £1 billion earmarked for the resort’s first decade.
The project will feature several themed lands alongside hotels, dining, retail, and entertainment. Bedford Borough Council estimates 8.5 million annual visitors initially, potentially rising to 12.5 million.
A New Hogwarts Is Arriving Before Universal Opens
The timing creates another complication for Universal: Harry Potter itself is about to look very different.
HBO’s television reboot premieres December 25, 2026, with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The first season adapts Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
That means audiences will spend the next several years becoming familiar with a new Hogwarts, new costumes, new sets, and a new interpretation of locations previously defined by Warner Bros.’ eight original films.
Season 2 is already in preproduction at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. HBO previously said it wants to minimize the gaps between seasons, although network boss Casey Bloys stressed that the scale of the production prevents it from becoming an annual series.
Season 2 has also started assembling its expanded cast. Recent announcements include Kit Harington as new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (and wizarding world heartthrob) Gilderoy Lockhart, Lenny Rush as Dobby the house-elf, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle, and Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley.
By the time Universal United Kingdom Resort welcomes its first guests in 2031 (if all goes to plan), HBO’s Harry Potter could therefore be several seasons deep.
There is currently no evidence that Universal plans to use HBO’s visual interpretation of the Wizarding World. Rumors surrounding Bedford have instead pointed toward Hogsmeade and Forbidden Journey, suggesting something closer to the lands already found at existing Universal parks.
That could leave two versions of Hogwarts operating simultaneously across Warner Bros.’ biggest Harry Potter projects: one newly established on television and another rooted in the designs that have represented the franchise in Universal theme parks since 2010.
