Top 10 Ways To Propose At Walt Disney World

Disney is all about romance. Sure, Walt Disney World may be one of the most popular family destinations on the planet, but it is also filled with fairy tales and happily ever afters. What better place to ask your special someone to share her life with you? There are countless places to propose, all of them as special as your love. You can do it up big or you can quietly pop the question, the choice is yours. Know that Disney is there to help. If you’re planning to propose at a restaurant, call ahead of time and make arrangements. The staff will be more than happy to make your proposal special. Many Disney cast members are romantics as well, and they’ll be thrilled to make it an incredible moment that neither of you will ever forget.

For continuity’s sake, this list is going to assume that a guy is proposing to his girlfriend. By no means am I saying that it should not be the other way around. Ladies, feel free to use any of these suggestions. There is no reason why a woman can’t be the one to pop the question. I’m just writing this list the other way around to make it easier to read.

10. World Showcase

If you’re looking for a quiet proposal, you’ll find many perfect spots along World Showcase. Wouldn’t it be romantic to propose on the steps of a Mayan pyramid or in front of the Eiffel Tower? Find a spot along World Showcase Lagoon (Japan comes to mind) so that you’ll have Spaceship Earth in the background. Ask a cast member or another guest to snap a picture as you ask her to marry you. The proposal will be special, but it will be low key. If she doesn’t like the spotlight, World Showcase can be a great place to propose.

9. California Grill

Make a reservation here for close to the time Happily Ever After will show at the Magic Kingdom. The view alone is romantic. Contact the restaurant ahead of time and a cast member will bring out the ring on a glass slipper. It will be on a platter that says “Will you marry me?” Everyone in the restaurant will be thrilled when she says yes.

8. Aerophile

If she takes your breath away, why not propose where there is a breathtaking view? Aerophile (formerly Characters in Flight) is located in Disney Springs. This tethered colorful balloon takes guests 400 feet in the air. For an even more beautiful view, stop by at sunset. You’ll be able to see the parks in the distance and the sky will be lit up with color. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more romantic backdrop for a proposal.

7. Partners Statue by Cinderella Castle

If your special someone loves fairy tales, you might want to think about proposing with Cinderella Castle as the backdrop. Even better is if you ask her to marry you in front of the Partners Statue. It’s the statue of Walt Disney holding Mickey’s hand. Since they are the two that started it all, it is a great place for a proposal. Cinderella Castle will be in the background, and it will be the perfect setting to start your own fairy tale.

6. Disney Floral & Gifts

Sometimes flowers can do the talking for you. Call Disney Floral & Gifts at (407) 939-4438 to come up with the perfect arrangement. You can have the flowers delivered pretty much anywhere on Disney property. Have a bouquet created that contains her favorite flowers and have them delivered during a romantic dinner. If she loves flowers, she will love the proposal as well.

5. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Marriage is supposed to be a thrilling adventure, so what better place to propose than on a thrill ride? Pop the question right before the countdown begins, but remember that you might need to scream it. She’ll have one minute and 22 seconds to think about how she wants to answer.

Of course you can propose on most rides, as long as you’re seated next to each other. Present her with a ring at the ring toss game on Toy Story Mania. Ask her while going up the hill on Expedition Everest. Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is a great place to tell her that you want to be her Prince Charming forever. Let her know that she makes your heart soar as you fly over The Taj Mahal on Soarin’. Proposing on something like Space Mountain will be a little more difficult (especially if you’re seated in rows three and four) but if it’s her favorite ride you can make it work.

4. Fireworks Cruise

Want to tell her that she lights up your world? Then book a fireworks cruise! You can choose from either Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot fireworks. Private dining is available, and you can make arrangements at the same time for your proposal. Call (407) 939-7529 for more information. Don’t forget to tip your captain when the evening is over.

3. Find a PhotoPass Photographer

When you see a PhotoPass photographer you will know that you are in a good spot for pictures. Let him or her know that you are about to propose, and then get down on one knee. Your entire proposal will be photographed by a professional, and you will have pictures that you will both cherish for a lifetime. The icons in the four parks are great as backdrops, but there are other romantic spots as well. Just make sure that the photographer knows that you plan to propose so that he or she will not stop taking pictures. If you don’t plan to purchase the photos, give the photographer your camera so that the moment will still be captured.

2. Victoria & Albert’s

A dinner at Victoria & Albert’s is not just a meal, it is an experience. Recipient of the AAA Five Diamond Award for many years running, Victoria & Albert’s offers gourmet food and pampering like most people have never experienced. Imagine asking her to share your lives with a harp playing gently in the background, followed by a toast in imported crystal stemware. Let the restaurant know ahead of time that you plan to propose. They will help you to come up with the perfect way to ask.

1 Cinderella’s Royal Table Engagement Package

Since Walt Disney World is the place where fairy tales become real, don’t you think that it makes sense to propose inside of Cinderella Castle? Call 407-824-4477 and ask about the Engagement Package. At the perfect moment your lady will be presented with a glass slipper on a bed of rose petals. You can then get down on one knee (Prince Charming would) and ask her to be your princess forever. A celebratory beverage for a toast and a special dessert are also included. A PhotoPass photographer will capture the moment, and Cinderella herself might stop by to offer her congratulations. If your intended is on the shy side you might want to try one of the other suggestions listed here. With Cinderella’s Royal Engagement Package the entire restaurant will be cheering you on.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
