Top Nine Meals for Under $10 at Walt Disney World

Top Nine Meals for Under $10 at Walt Disney World

Too often guests on a Walt Disney World vacation leave the property to find an inexpensive meal. They assume that there are no filling bargains within the theme parks or at Downtown Disney. While the restaurants on Disney property will cost you more than if you left the park and went to Burger King, you will make up for it with the amount of time that you will save. You will also have the extra bonus of being able to soak up the atmosphere because all of the Disney restaurants are different.

If a meal listed here does not interest you do not let that stop you from trying that particular restaurant. Most of the places here have more than one option under $10. I have tried to give a variety so that you will not end up eating the same type of food each day of your vacation.

This list contains restaurants only in the four theme parks and Downtown Disney. While there are also inexpensive meals at some of the resort hotels, the idea of this list is to save time as well as money. I have also excluded breakfast, the meals here are for lunch or dinner. Drinks, sides and desserts are not included. All of the restaurants here are counter service and none of them require reservations. Any prices included are subject to change.

9) Chicken BLT Salad, Restaurantosaurus

$9.19, DinoLand U.S.A., Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you’re looking for an inexpensive option that will also give you your vegetables, look no further. The Chicken BLT Salad is romaine lettuce with grilled chicken, tomatoes and bacon bits. It is served with fresh croutons and either french fries or apple slices on the side. Other meals under $10 include the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, the Vegetable Subosaurus and the Chili Hot Dog.

8) Asian Salad, ABC Commissary

$7.19, Commissary Lane, Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One thing that is nice about ABC Commissary is that there is plenty of indoor seating. There are also several affordable meal options. One of the more popular choices is the Asian Salad. It is tossed when ordered and served meatless. (If you’re a vegetarian, ask about ingredients when ordering, just to be on the safe side.) Chicken or salmon can be added but those will put the meal over $10. The salad is simple; lettuce, red cabbage, carrots and chow mein noodles are tossed with an Asian dressing. It is delicious and filling. You can also order a Seafood Platter, a Couscous Quinoa & Arugula Salad (with or without chicken) or Chicken Blue with french fries for under $10.

7) Individual Pizza at Pizza Planet Arcade

$8.99 or $9.49, Streets of America, Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Another option for a cheaper meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is pizza at Pizza Planet Arcade. It is not the best pizza that you will ever have, it is not even the best pizza at Walt Disney World, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Based on the Pizza Planet restaurant in Toy Story, you might spend the money that you saved on food playing the arcade games. An individual Cheese Pizza is $8.99, while the Vegetable Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza are $9.49 each. All are served with a Caesar Salad. You can also get a Meatball Sub or an Antipasto Salad for less than $10.

6) Fish and Chips, Yorkshire County Fish Shop

$8.99, United Kingdom Pavilion, Epcot

There’s not much of a dining selection here, but you will get exactly what they say they are going to give to you. For $8.99 you will receive two strips of fried fish with chips on the side. Remember that “chips” are not American potato chips, they are similar to french fries but are much more delicious. If you want a traditional British meal for an affordable price while on your Disney vacation, this is the place to get it.

5) Burrito, Tortuga Tavern

$7.09 or $7.59, Adventureland, Magic Kingdom

Formerly called El Pirata Y El Perico, this is a great place to get your Mexican food fix at the Magic Kingdom. You can get a Vegetarian Burrito, filled with black beans and cilantro rice, for $7.09, or add chicken or beef for an extra 50 cents. What makes the restaurant special is the toppings bar. You can load your burrito up with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and salsa so that it can become your own masterpiece. Also available for under $10 are Beef Nachos, a Taco Salad and a Caesar Salad with Chicken.

4) Pork Sandwich at Flame Tree Barbeque

$8.99, Discovery Island, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

This is a very popular restaurant for its food and its location. The barbecue is some of the best that you will find at any Walt Disney World Restaurant. With this particular sandwich smoked pulled pork is served on a fresh bun. It comes with a side of cole slaw. The Smoked Chicken Salad and the Turkey Breast Sandwich are also under $10, as is the Fruit Plate.

3) Curry Rice, Katsura Grill

$8.99, Japan Pavilion, Epcot

This is a simple and delicious dish with a bit of a kick. Beef, carrots, potatoes and onions are served in a spicy curry sauce over steamed rice. Katsura Grill has several other dishes under $10, including Teriyaki Beef or Chicken, Udon Noodles, and Okonomiyaki (which is a Japanese Pancake). There are also some Sushi choices for under $10 as well.

2) Chili-Cheese Dog at Casey’s Corner

$9.59, Main Street, U.S.A., Magic Kingdom

There is something special about this popular restaurant. Plan to eat at slightly off hours because it does get crowded. The Chili-Cheese Dog is simple; a hot dog in a bun is topped with chili and shredded cheddar cheese. You can pick either french fries or apple slices as a side. Other themed hot dogs are also under $10. Check the show times guide to see when the pianist will be playing to add something extra to your meal.

1) The All American at Earl of Sandwich

$5.99, Downtown Disney Marketplace

One of the best meal values at Walt Disney World can be found at Earl of Sandwich. The All American is a classic sandwich; roast turkey, sharp cheddar cheese, dried cranberries, lettuce, and roma tomatoes are topped with buttermilk ranch dressing. Earl of Sandwich offers over a dozen different toasted sandwiches, all for $5.99 each. They also sell wraps and salads for the same price. You need to watch the extras, those will quickly drive up the cost of your meal. The restaurant is popular with the local crowd as well as visitors, so it will most likely be packed, especially on the weekends. About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
