Top Ten Disney Movie Quotes That Will Positively Make Your Day Better
By Molly Elias
Movie quoting is my second language. I always have a quote on the tip of my tongue, ready to strike. Most people don’t get it when I quote Disney movies, but it usually makes me feel better when I do. These quotes are not necessarily the most famous or most popular, but they always come to mind when I’m in a less-than-pleasant situation:
10. The Parent Trap:
My, my, my, this IS a small world.
And getting smaller.
How small? : Ever have one of those days where you’d give anything for the world to be just a little bit bigger? Meredith from The Parent Trap can relate. Chances are you’re not going to meet your fiance’s ex-wife and long lost twin daughter at your wedding planning weekend, but stranger things have happened. This scene is also so incredibly awkward that I think it can be applied to many things in life.
- Pirates of the Caribbean:
This is either madness… or brilliance.
It’s remarkable how often those two traits coincide: There are days when I feel like Will and days when I feel like Jack. I love this quote because I can immediately picture both of their faces under that boat. I think we’ve probably all been in situations where this quote would be fitting, just maybe not as dramatic as in Pirates. My situations usually come up when I’m with my insane roommates or maybe at a big family gathering.
- Cinderella:
Oh, that clock! Old killjoy: Cinderella gets me. I basically say this quote every morning when I have to wake up for my early class. Everybody has hated the clock at one (or a million) point or another. For Cinderella, the clock makes her real life start. For others, the clock prevents them from living their real lives. Either way it’s a battle and it can certainly kill my joy.
- Emperor’s New Groove:
Uh-oh.
Don’t tell me. We’re about to go over a huge waterfall.
Yep.
Sharp rocks at the bottom?
Most likely.
Bring it on.: We all have those days where our current situation just couldn’t get any worse. Kuzco can sympathize. This exchange of dialog between Kuzco and Pacha as they’re tied to that giant log always makes me laugh. Whatever I’m going through can’t possibly be as bad as that. Also, the concluding: “bring it on,” is relevant any day. Shoutout to Kuzco’s defeated: “I hate you,” directly before this scene and his “boo-yahh!” yell immediately after.
- The Incredibles:
I never look back, darling, it distracts from the now: Edna Mode puts things into perspective. She’s extremely direct and very bossy. But she makes a good point. There are so many times when we get stuck in the past and should really just let it go…Even though Edna gives really good advice, I’d be afraid of asking for fear of her beating me up with a newspaper…
- Meet the Robinsons:
Keep moving forward: Wilbur Robinson from Meet the Robinsons is always good for a pep talk. Wilbur and his dad, Cornelius (who looks like Tom Selleck), based their lives around this quote. I’m pretty sure another famous guy held this quote dear, too… There are so many times when all I need is a little reminder that my life is not defined by the moment I’m in. So…I keep moving forward. Bad test grade? Keep moving forward. Awful day at work? Keep moving forward. Car broken? Keep moving forward. And don’t be like Lewis who hates the quote after failing. Just get up instead.

- Hercules:
I’m a big tough girl, I can tie my own sandals and everything…Thanks for everything, Herc, it’s been a real slice: This quote is mainly on the list because I love Hercules and Meg is my favorite. Any time I think of Meg’s sass my day immediately gets better. I think my personality is most like Meg’s so her sarcasm really resonates with me. Her quick wit certainly throws Herc for a loop, but she seems to enjoy it. She knows how to leave a stinger and takes full advantage. I try to squeeze these lines in pretty much as often as humanly (or godly) possibly.
- Toy Story:
You are a sad, strange, little man and you have my pity: Come on, how many times have you wanted to say this to your boss or a coworker that drives you crazy? Even though Buzz is severely delusional in this scene (he…is…a… TOY), the quote still works. This quote just makes me happy because of the usefulness of it. It’s so direct and blunt that it would take anyone off guard enough to get the point across.
- The Lion King:
I’m surrounded by idiots: I think everyone on earth can relate with Scar here. It’s basically my go-to Disney quote when I’m around people I’m even slightly annoyed with. It’s just full of such loathing. Scar would definitely choose anyone but the hyenas if he had the choice. We’ve all been there, minus the hyena part, of course. This is the type of quote that I’d love to say out loud but would definitely get me in trouble.
- Winnie the Pooh:
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think: I just want to hug Pooh. Even though the narrator comments that “Pooh is a bear of very little brain,” I still think he’s a genius here. We all have moments of self-doubt, sometimes even on a daily basis. Pooh reminds us of this very important truth in a way that only Pooh can and it is a surefire way to make our days, and lives, better.
