Top Reasons You’ll Love Dahlia Lounge at Walt Disney World

What’s the best way to unwind after a busy day in Walt Disney World’s theme parks?  Do you go for a swim in your Disney resort’s pool?  Or check out all the dining and entertainment action at Disney Springs?  Maybe you like to wander around Pandora – The World of Avatar as it lights up for the night.  While these are all fantastic ways to end a day at WDW, we have another suggestion that just might become your new favorite.  Why not enjoy drinks and a snack at a gorgeous rooftop lounge with an unparalleled view of the most magical place on earth?  Here are the top reasons you’ll love Dahlia Lounge.

1. Location and View

When it comes to location, it doesn’t get better than this!  Dahlia Lounge is situated high atop the new Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.  Soaring 16 stories above the ground, the lounge is a no-brainer when it comes to stunning views.  Believe it or not, you can see three of Walt Disney World’s theme parks – and a water park! –  from here: Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios and Blizzard Beach.  Just imagine relaxing with a drink while gazing at Tower of Terror or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge far below you!

2. Inside or Outside: Your Choice

The question really is, where exactly to enjoy Dahlia Lounge’s gorgeous panorama!  Indoor seating is available, and it’s positioned to take advantage of the views, so you can absolutely sit inside and still look out over Disney property.  But taking a seat outside is an unforgettable experience.  Enjoy the fresh air as you sit back and relax on the comfortable benches, chairs and pillows.  Even when you’re sitting down, the glass walls will make sure you’re not missing the view.

3. Fireworks

We’ve talked about the views, and now for a different hit attraction that can be enjoyed from Dahlia’s Lounge: glimpses of the fireworks at Hollywood Studios’ and Epcot’s nighttime spectaculars.  They won’t be as close as they’d be if you were dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, of course, but they’re still worth seeing.  Head out onto the outdoor lounge area, and enjoy!

4. Delightful Dali

The décor at Dahlia Lounge is on the surreal side, and there’s a reason for that.  It’s inspired by Dahlia, a character from the animated short Destino, a collaboration between famed Salvador Dali and Walt Disney.  Touches of surreal artistry are everywhere, from the bar counter that looks like it has been splattered with an artist’s paint, to the optical illusions in the mesmerizing floor tiles, to the surreal scenes on the wall that could be straight from a Dali painting (or Destino itself!).  Don’t miss the black and white photos of Dali and Disney together!

5. Here’s Looking at You

The bar area at Dahlia Lounge screams has cool written all over it.  It’s a decidedly retro area, with bar stools in tufted leather, and it’s covered with mirrors in fun and wacky shapes that somehow work perfectly in the space.  Visit during sunset, and you’ll love the beautiful colors reflected in those mirrors!  But Dahlia’s bar is more than just a pretty face.  You won’t be faced with the awkward question of where to put a purse or jacket here – there are plenty of hooks under the edge of the bar for you to use.  And if your device is losing power, the bar has a solution for that, too, in the form of outlets and USB ports.  Practical and beautiful – Dahlia has it all!

6. Eats

Though the main focus at Dahlia Lounge is on beverages, you can still grab a bite to eat here.  And if you’ve dined at Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, you’ll likely recognize the menu!  Several of the dishes here are exactly the same as those you’ll find on Toledo’s menu, and there’s a lot to choose from, including cheese and charcuterie boards, a variety of tapas and plated options, and even Savory Churros!  Yum.

7. Drinks

A variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available at Dahlia Lounge, from specialty cocktails to artisanal coffee to wine and beer.  The vast majority of the wine offered in Gran Destino Tower is, appropriately, from Spain, and you’ll see that reflected in Dahlia’s menu.  Can’t decide?  Why not opt for Dahlia’s signature drink, the Gran Gin Tonic, made with saffron and orange gin.  Younger guests will love the mint lemonade and iced tea.

8. Elevators

We get it, elevators are probably never on your list of reasons to visit a restaurant or bar!  Even so, Gran Destino Tower’s elevators are definitely something you’ll appreciate when visiting Dahlia Lounge, especially if you’re tech-savvy.  Forget the archaic days of pressing a button and waiting for the next elevator to arrive, wondering if you’ll make it on, how many people you’ll have to race for a spot, and how many floors you’ll have to stop at before yours.  Here, you’ll use a touch screen outside the elevator to choose your floor (there are no buttons inside the elevators), and the screen will tell you which elevator to take.  Simple!
