Top 12 Reasons I’d Rather Be at Walt Disney World

There’s no introduction needed, is there? I’d rather be at Disney. Always. Every day. All the time. Here are my 12 reasons why:

12. No Driving

Maybe it’s just me, but driving stresses me out, especially on vacation. I never know where I’m going or what I’m doing or where I’ll park or if I have to pay or anything. So Disney’s free transportation system is my lifesaver. I love being able to just not think about it. The monorail is my transport of choice. Although I love a nice boat ride from Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom…

11. Florida Heat

This is definitely not a great thing for everyone. But sometimes, like in the dead of winter coming from New England, the Florida heat is a Godsend. While it does mean buying stock in Coppertone, the heat can be so rejuvenating and good for the soul. And, if you hate heat, everywhere is blasted with air conditioning so it’s all good.

10. No Work

This one is pretty self-explanatory, am I right? For adults, a vacation is a vacation and that means no work! A trip to Disney is a time to shut that laptop, turn the emails off, and spend some time breathing it all in. And going to Disney is usually a jam-packed affair, meaning there’s not a lot of time to sneak in some forbidden work.

9. Choose Your Schedule

Although, being at Disney is great because you really do get to choose your own schedule. Maybe you’re an “up before the birds,” kind of person. Perfect. You can grab a quick breakfast and be at the park for the rope drop. Or maybe that scenario makes your skin crawl. No worries. You can sleep in and have a nice long sit down character breakfast at your hotel before sauntering in to the park when you please. Every day and every choice is like this! Make it your own!

8. Time With Family

Being at Disney means uninterrupted family time. Yeah, yeah, sometimes that’s the opposite of a vacation. But Disney was made for families. Disney was specifically designed with families in mind, to provide the best possible opportunities for them to be together. That’s a remarkable thing. I love being able to take advantage of that and build strong and lasting memories with the ones I love.

7. Lots of Food

I’d rather be at Disney because Disney means food. Morning, noon, and night, and a million snacks in between. Disney means that you can eat as much as you want whenever you want and it’s perfectly socially acceptable. Not only is there a ton of it, it’s really, really good. From a Mickey Bar on Hollywood Boulevard to a hot dog at Casey’s, to filet mignon at Jiko, Disney food is out of this world.

6. Fireworks Every Night

Nowhere else in the world can you look out your window to see marvelous fireworks displays every night. And that’s why I’d rather be at Disney for an extended amount of time. It is so magical to be able to choose what lights up the sky every single night. It’s the perfect way to end your day.

5. Be a Kid

Being an adult is hard work. But when I’m at Disney, I can be any age I want. And I love it. There are no age requirements for a good time at Disney parks. The rides and activities in the parks cater to anyone, and no one cares if a middle age man wants to meet Minnie or a grandma just wants to go on Dumbo. At Disney, ice cream is a perfectly acceptable dinner choice. And being a kid rocks.

4. Hakuna Matata

It means no worries. I’d always rather be at Disney because there, everything’s Hakuna. A Disney vacation is a time to just enjoy and have fun and do whatever makes you happy. So even if things don’t go perfectly, even if you don’t get FastPasses, even if the line for Elsa is two hours long, even if you didn’t get a dining reservation, no worries! Because your vacation is still going to be amazing.

3. Hang With Mickey

I’d rather be at Disney because some of the best friends ever are there! Where else can you party with your favorite characters and hang out with them all day? I love that it’s completely normal to just see Mickey walking around the corner, or visit Mulan in her home country, or come face to face with Darth Vader while waiting to travel to Endor. It’s just so cool.

2. Being Treated Like Royalty

Disney guests are treated like royalty with ever step of their vacation. I certainly don’t get treated like that at work, do you? Disney Cast Members are trained to go to infinity and beyond with their accommodations and kindness. From the resort Cast Members who make sure that your hotel is more like your home, to the Cast Members in the parks who go out of their way to play with the kids, you never just feel like a visitor, you feel like royalty.

1. Get to Live the Magic

The number one reason I’d rather be at Disney is to be able to live the magic – to be able to be a part of the story. At Disney, every moment is memorable. And every minute is carefully crafted to be as magical as possible. You play a vital role in the Disney story. You get to go on rides, hang out with your favorite people, eat a ton of food you’d never eat otherwise, relax, play, enjoy. But really, what you’re doing is soaking up the Disney magic. And I’d rather do that any day.
