8. Japan Pearls – Mitsukoshi store, Epcot World Showcase
This section is a modern-day version of the old pearl-diving where cast members actually had to dive down in the water to choose an oyster and bring it back up to you. You now get to choose your own oyster that is then opened by a very pleasant cast member who cleans it, shows it to you, and explains what type, color, and size of pearl you have found. You can then choose to take the pearl as it is put into a small bag, or choose to have your pearl(s) mounted on jewelry findings. When you wear your pearls you will remember how much fun you had at Disney World choosing your oyster and the surprise of seeing a special pearl. For a far less expensive option in this same store if you buy a fan they will write your name on it in Japanese. The fans are nice too!
