It is not impossible for your family to have a Walt Disney World vacation, if you really want it. Money is tight for everyone right now so plan carefully and you can know how much you will need before you go, saving you from any alarming surprises. Your vacation should be as unique as you are, and as special. If you follow these tips below, you will be on a good track for getting your Walt Disney World dream vacation.
10. Plan on inexpensive souvenirs…
Such as Pressed Penny machines. You need two quarters, and one penny-the one you want the image pressed into from a variety of machines placed all around the resort. There are also inexpensive Pressed Penny albums for sale that have clear slots made just for the penny. In each machine is one or more unique designs that the penny can be pinched with.
9. Bring your own food and snacks.
Many people do not realize that this is allowed. You can even bring in small coolers with ice. This can save you a good bit of cash. You cannot bring in glass containers and no alcohol. You could enjoy a snack in most of the attraction queues. I have seen families bring in bags of sandwich buns and get a couple of Smoked Turkey Legs and remove the meat from the turkey leg to fill up the sandwich buns for an inexpensive way to enjoy a Disney park treat. You can have food shipped to your resort to arrive a couple days before you do and you can have it delivered to your room once you arrive. This is a good option for people who are flying in. Also keep in mind that the Hess stations on property have the best prices on bottled water, other beverages and snacks. Their pizzas are pretty good too.
8. Complimentary Magical Express
If you fly into Orlando International Airport take advantage of the complimentary Magical Express bus to your resort and bypass a rental car.
7. More Disney Transportation
Stay on property and ride the Disney transportation to each park and avoid not only the gas but also the parking fees. The Disney Value resorts are a good value and you have this money-saving advantage as well as the perks such as Extra Magic Hours and honestly it is the best way to immerse yourself in the Disney experience. There are significantly lower prices in off-peak times, just check the official Walt Disney World site for the exact price on dates you are considering. Weekends cost more than weekdays.
6. Share a Big Meal.
Some of the meals at Disney can be easily split! This can save a ton. Ask the server about the portion size. You can also split a meal then split an appetizer or dessert and save a little that way with still having plenty to eat!
5. You can request complimentary water at any of the counter-service restaurants.
This will save you money over expensive sodas and bottled water. If you really want soda, visit the locations that have self-serve sodas and drink up. You can also visit Club Cool in Epcot to taste a world of flavors of Coca-Cola with samples from other countries. You can drink as much as you like.

4. Make your own autograph book…
Or bring a pillowcase and some Sharpies along to collect character autographs. There are several design options shown on Pinterest if you need some ideas and directions.
3. Do your research on the menus available at each park and choose wisely…
Paying special attention to whether the restaurant has items that will be pleasing to each person in your party. You could even use the menus on the official Walt Disney World site to determine exactly what each person will order and how much money you need for that meal.
2. Make use of the free charging stations and free Wi-Fi in the parks and resorts.
Every park has charging stations, some have charging lockers where you can swipe your credit card, a locker opens, and you plug in your phone, close the locker. When the phone is recharged the light on the locker will turn green. Simply swipe the same credit card again and the locker door pops open and you can retrieve your charged phone, for free. No charge is put on your credit card it is simply used as a way of identification.
1. Plan to visit Walt Disney World when Free Disney Dining is offered.
Understand the restrictions of the plan, and choose restaurants carefully for the best use of your time. Don’t just run from restaurant to restaurant; unless that is all you want to do. Also check for discounts through any club memberships like AAA, or DVC, or discounts for Annual Passholders or Disney Chase-Visa card members.
